~ MORE GOOD STUFF ~

NBC closed the door on its long-running series Law and Order, canceling the series after its 20th season. At the same time, NBC is ushering in a new Law and Order franchise spin-off titled Law & Order: Los Angeles or referred to more simply as LOLA. NBC also renewed Law & Order: SVU for a twelfth season. The series finale for Law and Order will air May 24 at 10p. Later, NBC may work with Dick Wolf, executive producer of the franchise, to offer additional closure for Law and Order such as having L&O’s characters appear on LOLA’s premiere episode or possibly a made-for-TV movie. Law and Order will now go down in the annals of US television history as tying Gunsmoke as the longest-airing primetime drama series. LOLA will be written similarly as Law and Order, though set in Los Angeles. The cast of LOLA has not been announced; Wolf and Blake Masters will serve as executive producers.

ABC has cut three comedies from its schedule including the new sitcom Romantically Challenged starring Alyssa Milano after only airing a handful of episodes, as well as Scrubs and Better Off Ted. ABC also has canceled the freshman drama FlashForward, though has opted to renew the new sci-fi series V with an estimated 13 episode order from Warner Bros. Television.

TNT endorsed its new buddy lawyer series Franklin & Bash headlined by Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Breckin Meyer. TNT ordered 10 episodes from Four Sycamore Productions, Left Coast Productions and FanFare Productions in association with Sony Pictures Television. The series centers on two young, off-the-cuff lawyers, Franklin (Meyer) and Bash (Gosselaar), who join a leading law firm. Franklin & Bash also stars Malcolm McDowell as Stanton Infield, the patriarch of the law firm who recruits the two new lawyers; as well as Dana Davis, Kumail Nanjiani, Reed Diamond and Garcelle Beauvais.  Jamie Tarses, Kevin Falls and Bill Chaise all serve as executive producers; Falls and Chais penned the pilot.

TBS approved to series Glory Daze, the one-hour comedy set in the 1980s about life post-college in Wisconsin. The eight-episode series stars Kelly Blatz, Callard Harris, Matt Bush, Drew Seeley, Hartley Sawyer, Julianna Guill and Tim Meadows. Produced by TBS Productions, Glory Daze will premiere late this year.

Note: TBS, TNT and TCM will serve up their joint upfront presentation this Wednesday in New York.

Nick at Nite opens a second season of its original stop-motion animated comedy Glenn Martin, DDS on June 11 at 1030p. Produced by Tornante Animation, the series will regularly air on Fridays at 1030p. Many celebrity guest stars will be part of the new season including Bret Michaels, Mel Brooks, Fergie, Kristen Bell, Sean Hayes, Betty White, Jimmy Kimmel, John Corbett and Fran Drescher among others. The cast of Glenn Martin, DDS also returns intact consisting of Kevin Nealon as Glenn Martin, Catherine O’Hara as Jackie Martin and Judy Greer as Wendy Park.
