DISH and A+E Networks struck a multi-year contract renewal for A+E’s entire portfolio that includes OTT multi-stream rights for live and VOD content, and expands distribution of H2 and FYI in the America’s Top 200 programming package. A+E joins Disney as the second online net on Dish, advancing the company’s plans to launch a web TV streaming service this year. Sony announced that it too will create an online TV service, but has not announced any similar arrangements yet.
The Game Show Network debuted the weekly online competition show Skin Wars: The Naked Truth with Kandee Johnson on YouTube’s game show destination Door 3 channel. YT make-up guru Kandee Johnson will host eight episodes, recapping GSN series Skin Wars as well as interviewing eliminated contestants. A new ep will hit the channel every Wednesday at 10p ET.
Dailymotion and FC Barcelona rolled out a new channel dedicated to the team. During soccer season, FC Barcelona will upload live-streams, match highlights, player interviews and more on the channel. Dailymotion reaches 120 million viewers per month and hosts more than 2.5 billion vids.
In light of Sarah Palin’s new online streaming service, Pluto.TV created its own channel with a comedic twist showcasing the former Alaska governor and Vice President candidate. The channel, called #SarahFailin, features Palin’s most memorable TV interviews.
The Weather Channel and Telemundo have created a new digital documentary called The Real Death Valley. The 22-minute doc examines the trek illegal immigrants often take to cross the border into Texas; an area of the country that boasts some of the country’s most sweltering temperatures and is the focus of the recent immigration debate. The show premieres Aug. 11 at 9a ET on weather.com.

RB and Facebook have signed a multi-year global partnership deal that will integrate their sales and marketing teams, reports MediaPost. “RB wants to partner with Facebook to help us connect with our customers and to grow our business in several countries around the world,” said an RB spokesperson. RB brands include Lysol, Woolite and Clearasil.
Fullscreen YouTube filmmaker and adventurer Devin Graham (Devin SuperTramp has two million subs) captured Speed Stick GEAR (“his most extreme stunt”) on film. The video of Stunt 411 is part of a social campaign launched in April, and features Devin and a team of six professionals jumping from the world’s largest urban zip line in Panama City before landing on a base via parachute. As previously reported, the campaign asked fans to guess what type of trick Graham would try; the winner then traveled with the crew to create the event. “Speed Stick wanted to pull something off that had never been done before, so we produced a high-impact campaign with Devin SuperTramp,” Fullscreen COO Ezra Cooperstein told Cynopsis. “We turned Devin’s premium video into a TV spot and amplified brand engagement with a social media contest. This original integrated production is sure to blow people away.”
PBS announced two winners for its third annual PBS Online Film Festival yesterday. The film that took “People’s Choice” was My Dear Americans from National Black Programming Consortium (NBPC). Digging For Water from KLRU Austin was the second winner, and most viewed doc of the 25 finalists. The films will be screened on Ovee.ITVS.org today at 2p ET. More than 50,000 votes were cast from June 16-July 31, and entries were streamed more than 350,000 times.
Animal Planet will live stream the third annual Internet Cat Video Festival on Aug. 14 at 7p ET. The network will specifically stream the finalists in this year’s honor for the top cat video “Golden Kitty Award” on AnimalPlanet.com/CatVidFest.

Starz PLAY TV everywhere app launched on the Xbox One console yesterday. Additionally, authenticated users can now stream the latest original series Outlander through all of the app’s platforms. Encore PLAY and MoviePlex PLAY TVE apps was introduced on the Xbox 360 earlier this year.

Yahoo will incorporate ComScore Campaign Essentials (vCE) into its ad buying and reporting platforms. “Integrating comScore vCE with Yahoo ad platforms provides advertisers with one place to buy, measure, and analyze campaigns against all available data,” Yahoo VP of Product Eric Lange said.
Delivery Agent acquired Musictoday from Live Nation Entertainment yesterday. “Fans have changed how they consume and engage with music content, making the industry ripe for innovative new monetization models,” Delivery Agent CEO Mike Fitzsimmons said. “This acquisition offers Delivery Agent a natural way to extend the company’s solutions into a new vertical.”
ChoiceStream launched the cs.Console dashboard to provide analytics tracking campaigns in real time, breaking down performance by audience, location and ad spend. “Our aim is to share insights that our machine learning system picks up as campaigns progress,” CEO Eric Bosco said.
Tremor Video, in collaboration with Nielsen Catalina Solutions (NCS) will now offer consumer-packaged goods (CPG) clients better audience targeting ability. Tremor will have access to more than 2,500 syndicated NCS brand and category shopper segments, helping advertisers and agencies shift impressions from the weakest to the best performing elements driving sales. NCS also works with YuMe.
Programmatic ad platform Rocket Fuel will purchase ad tech firm [x+1] for $230 million. [x+1] clients include Mercedes-Benz, Lionsgate and Intuit, and is best known for its demand side platform and data-management platform.
The second screen is taking away eyeballs from TV advertising, according to a new study from TNS Infratest and funded by wywy. TV ad awareness dropped 58 percent among those using a second screen while watching TV compared to TV-only participants. However, when a TV ad synched to the second screen and cross-delivered an ad, awareness increased by 40 percent.
HGTV shows filled three of top five spots in cable commercial retention in a survey of TiVo users. January-June data had the lifestyle net’s House Hunters International and Caribbean Life at 84 percent retention, and Love it or List It at 83 percent. Discovery’s Gold Rush: Pay Dirt was a close fifth with 82 percent. Rounding out the list? TBS’s Bam’s Bad Ass, with 84 percent. Why does HGTV rate so high? “Since HGTV fans do what they view, they are highly engaged with the entire environment, content and breaks,” Jon Steinlauf, EVP for ad sales & marketing, Scripps Networks Interactive, tells Cynopsis. “We inspire them with ideas, and then they shop the ads.”
YuMe hired Eric Bozinny as the new Network Quality Director. Bozinny most recently spent five years as Microsoft’s Senior Program Manager, Advertising Fraud.
Yahoo appointed Ian Moffitt to lead its original content team. Most recently, Moffitt was the Head of Premium Content at Machinima.
Maker Studios named Charles Gabriel as Chief Advertising Officer and Bonnie Pan as the Executive Vice President of Programming. Gabriel was formerly the EVP of Development an Strategy at AOL and Pan was a former Yahoo Screen executive.

Late night veteran Conan O’Brien aired an entire Orange is the New Black themed episode yesterday. In the special show, “Crazy Eyes” (Uzo Aduba) taught Conan how to make crazy eyes, “Big Boo” (Lea DeLaria) taught him about a woman’s anatomy and “Red” (Kate Mulgrew) showed Conan how to dance.
