Cynopsis: Kids!
01/19/10

Good morning. It’s Tuesday, January 19, 2010, and this is your first early morning Kids briefing.

Nickelodeon will premiere its new live-action music, dance and comedy series Victorious (20 episodes) on Saturday, march 27 at 9:30p.  The series stars Victoria Justice (Zoey 101, Spectacular!).  Created by executive producer/writer Dan Schneider (iCarly, Zoey 101, Drake & Josh), Victorious is co-produced by Sony Music.  Additionally, the network will simultaneously launch TheSlap .com, a companion social networking and community website that is featured and used by characters in the series.

MORE KIDS STUFF

DQE Entertainment (DQE) enters into a broadcast deal with Noga Communications (Israel) for the new 3D HD animated series The Jungle Book (52×11).  Based on Rudyard Kipling’s eponymous book, The Jungle Book is developed and produced by DQE and has been acquired by a range of TV partners around the world including ABC Television (Australia) and Disney Multiplex channels across Asia.  Additionally NBC Universal picked up the home video distribution rights for the series for the UK, France, French speaking Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.  DQE plans to announce North American broadcast and licensing deals for The Jungle Book in the near future.

Chorion teams with ScrollMotion, a developer of iPhone applications, to bring Roger Hargreaves’ Mr. Men and Little Miss books to the iPhone and iPod Touch.  Available now on iTunes ($3.99, with an introductory price each of $1.99 for two titles), the digital books feature interactive controls that allows kids to read the books or have the books read aloud while kids follow along, users can also record and playback their own reading of the books.  View a video demo of the app and books on YouTube ( www.youtube.com/watch?v=9a42kFqHLhU).  As Chorion continues to build its worldwide licensing efforts, it is looking for more partners in the novelty, seasonal and collectable categories.  Meanwhile, The Mr. Men Show (104×11) continues to rollout around the world.

LEGO Systems has also launched its first iPhone/iTouch app, LEGO Photo ( www.legoclick.com ), which allows users to save photos (or “Click moments”) in a LEGO brick form.  The app is free.  Additionally, LEGO has also released an original short film, about a fictional inventor and his “Click moment” and the LEGO Click blog/community that will offer fans, artists and inventors a place to find out about ideas, toys, new products and technology.  Very cool.
