ABC’s “The Conners” will return for a seventh and final season. “You’ve been part of this family for years,” says a promo for the farewell run. “After 6 seasons, be there to say goodbye.” The net’s “Not Dead Yet” will expire with season two.

Lots of renewals on the reality front. ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” will be back for a 33rd season, “ “The Bachelor” for a 29th; “What Would You Do?” for a 17th; “Shark Tank” for a 16th; “American Idol” for an eighth on ABC (and 23rd overall); “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune” for a fifth; and “Celebrity Jeopardy!” for a third.

Fox renewed “Alert: Missing Persons Unit” for season three. The procedural is averaging 3.9 million multiplatform viewers, up +233% from Live+Same Day numbers.

Fox animated comedy “HouseBroken” will not return for a third season. While the network said it was pleased with the creative on the series, ratings didn’t meet expectations. Season two, which concluded last summer, averaged 1.0 million viewers. New comedy “Universal Basic Guys,” from creators Adam and Craig Malamut and produced by Bento Box Entertainment and Sony Pictures Television, will be joining the lineup.

Pay-per-view aggregator In Demand, owned by Comcast, Charter Communications and Cox Communications, is shutting down at the end of 2025. “We will do everything in our power to minimize any disruptions to our partners, owners, affiliates, and most importantly, the customers who have always been our North Star,” said CEO Dale Hopkins in a memo to staff. “It’s never easy to make the decision to close a company, but with the rapidly evolving media landscape, the board determined this was the most sustainable outcome.”

NEW & RETURNING SERIES

NBC shared a fall schedule that includes three new series. Medical drama “Brilliant Minds” will fill the Monday at 10p slot, following “The Voice”; mockumentary “St. Denis Medical” will kick off Tuesdays at 8p; and “Happy Place,” a comedy starring Reba McEntire, is set for Fridays at 8p.

Season two of Netlflix sequel “That 90s Show” will drop in two batches. The first eight episodes are set for release on Thursday, June 27, and the second on Thursday, October 24.

New Magnolia Network series “Getting Lost with Erin French,” featuring the star of “The Lost Kitchen,” premieres Sunday, June 23 at 2p, following the season eighth premiere of “Magnolia Table with Joanna Gaines.”

Docuseries “Down in the Valley,” exploring the Deep South, premieres Friday, July 5 at 9p on Starz.

Gary “G Thang” Johnson stars in ALLBLK comedy special,” Gary ‘G Thang’ Johnson: Sitcho Ass Down.” Taped in the El Portal Theatre in LA and directed by Bentley Kyle Evans (“Martin”), the show premieres Thursday, May 30.

STREAMING

Pluto has introduced a Mini-Channel Guide enabling Pluto TV viewers to browse channels while continuing to watch the content in full-screen, including episode details. First to get the rollout is Roku.

New ID, the in-house venture of media group NEW (Next Entertainment World), announced that BINGE Korea, a K-content specialized CTV App, has launched on VIZIO. Smartcast users can access content including K-pop, Korean dramas, movies, variety shows, as well as kids and food content.

SPORTS UPDATE

Netflix will be the “likely winner” of two NFL games on Christmas this year, according to Puck. The outlet reported one of the reasons the league is waiting until May 15 to release its 2024-25 schedule is because it has been “in the middle of a high-stakes negotiation with Netflix over its planned Christmas Day games.”

ESPN, which has presented the WNBA since the league’s inception in 1997, will feature a full slate of regular season games, in addition to being the exclusive home of the entire WNBA postseason. Regular season coverage begins Tuesday, May 14 with the “WNBA Tip Off Presented by CarMax” doubleheader on ESPN2, ESPN+, and for the first time ever on Disney+.

Prime Video begins its regular-season coverage of the 2024 WNBA season on Thursday, May 16 at 7p, with a matchup between the Indiana Fever and New York Liberty. It’s the first of 21 exclusive national games that Prime Video will stream this season, including the Championship Game of the Commissioner’s Cup presented by Coinbase on June 25.

Basketball league Big3, founded by Ice Cube, has sold rights to an LA-based team to a group of investors led by DCB Sports. More ownership announcements are expected before the season for the league, featuring 3-on3 games, starts June 15.
