A tight ACC battle between Notre Dame and Clemson propelled NBC to its most-watched Notre Dame on NBC game in 15 years, according to Fast National Data from Nielsen, and digital data from Adobe Analytics. Coverage averaged a preliminary Total Audience Delivery of 9.44 million viewers across NBC TV and NBC Sports Digital to mark the most-watched Notre Dame on NBC matchup since the “Bush Push” game against USC on Oct. 15, 2005 in addition to ranking as the most-watched ND on NBC primetime game on record.


Elsewhere in football, FOX Sports reports that 13.7 million viewers tuned in to coverage of Thursday Night Football last week as the Packers topped the 49ers. On FOX and NFL Network, 13.169 million watched the game to push the contest to the most-watched telecast of the day. On the digital front, streaming was up 23% year-over-year with an average minute audience of 1.01 million.

Major League Soccer released the schedule and TV info for the Audi 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs, which will see 17 knockout matches played across 22 days beginning Nov. 20 and culminating with 2020 MLS Cup on Saturday, Dec. 12. Play begins with the Eastern Conference Play-In Match #1 no Nov. 20 at 6:30p on FS1 and FOX Deportes and pitting New England/Montreal.

Major League Baseball revealed the schedule of Award presentations during the week of December 7, which includes the Roberto Clemente Award, Hank Aaron Award and All-MLB Team Presented by CohnReznick. The awards will be formally presented during special one-hour programs airing on MLB Network beginning Dec. 7 at 2p with the Roberto Clemente Award. Dec. 8 at 2p will be the Hank Aaron Award and concludes with the All-MLB Team Presented by CohnReznick on Dec. 9 at 7p.

ESPN salutes veterans and active members of the U.S. armed forces throughout the week with programming and initiatives in recognition of Veterans Day. Among the highlights will be a week of ESPN’s First Take program virtually visiting active bases; five days of special military-related features in SportsCenter and other ESPN programs including NFL Live and College GameDay and more digital and audio content. Ford Motor Company and Pro Football Hall of Fame are teaming up to present the “Ford Proud to Honor Hall of Heroes”, in recognition of the deserving military men and women who “exemplify hard work, selflessness and a commitment to excellence.” Kathy Roth-Douquet, founder of the national nonprofit Blue Star Families, became the first member of the Hall of Heroes when she received an honorary knock on her door from Pro Football Hall of Famer Jim Kelly. Kevin Greene, Pro Football Hall of Famer, Super Bowl Champion and 16-year veteran of the US Army Reserve, will serve as an official spokesperson on behalf of the “Ford Proud To Honor Hall of Heroes”.


DAZN landed BetMGM for a deeper partnership that kicked off on Saturday. LiveLike, which delivers digital fan experiences to live events, was selected by Canal+ to bring their audience engagement platform to MyCanal – starting with upcoming soccer matches. This marks the latest integration of LiveLike’s new audience engagement suite, with CANAL+ joining other recently announced partnerships with Turner Sports, Sky Sports and FloSports. LiveLike’s technology, via API and/or SDK, are also being used around the world to enhance social viewing experiences for news and entertainment programming.


The Call of Duty League made its newest team official with the announcement that 100 Thieves would be joining that league under the moniker of the Los Angeles Thieves. The team will operate out of the 100 Thieves Cash App Compound in LA. “We won two ‘Call of Duty’ championships in 2019 so our year away reminded us how amazing ‘Call of Duty’ fans are, and how much we missed them,” said Haag in a statement on Friday. “Our fans deserve the best ‘Call of Duty’ team in the world — and we’re gonna do everything in our power to give it to them.”

Meanwhile, following the sale of their own Call of Duty League franchise, Immortals Gaming Club raised $26 million in Series B-1 funding. The investment was raised to “fuel ongoing growth of the company’s core,” which is mainly their team brands. Meg Whitman, a board member and existing investor, led the funding round. “IGC is focused on investing aggressively in growth in competitive gaming, inclusive of our platform, non-team assets such as Gamers Club, and our core team brands Immortals and MIBR,” said Ari Segal, CEO of Immortals Gaming Club.

Riot unveiled a new partnership with personal finance company SoFi, with an eye to invest in new talent. The partnership sees the brand partner with the LCS on their annual League of Legends amateur event, the Honda Scouting Grounds. In addition, SoFi is working with Nerd Street Gamers to hold its own tournament for college-aged players, titled SoFi Meta Melee and beginning Nov. 20.


The Mets’ ownership change became official on Friday with Steve Cohen closing his record $2.4 billion deal to acquire the team from Sterling Equities. Cohen intends to hold a virtual press conference on Tuesday at 12:30p on Mets.com and Mets social media channels to discuss the deal and his plans for the team.
