Ayo Davis has been named Gary Marsh’s successor at Disney. The former Executive Vice President, Creative Development and Strategy of Disney Branded Entertainment, has been upped to President of the division. It marks Davis’ second big promotion in 10 months, after spending 18 years as a casting executive.
“Derry Girls,” the Channel 4 comedy which streams globally on Netflix, is coming to a close. Creator Lisa McGee took to Twitter to announce that the upcoming third season of the British series will be its last, noting that that “was always the plan.”
YouTube Originals unveiled new and returning original programming at Thursday’s Television Critics Association’s 2021 Summer Press Tour session. “Dear Earth,” a global multi-hour celebration of the planet featuring President Barack Obama, Pope Francis, Desmond Tutu and others, will premiere Saturday, October 23 and kick off YouTube Originals October programming focused on sustainability. Among other key announcements, new feature length documentary “Tom Petty, Somewhere You Feel Free: The Making of Wildflowers” will explore the creation of Petty’s albums, while “Noted: Alicia Keys The Untold Stories” is a performance docuseries about the artist. “Tab Time,” a new preschool series with Tabitha Brown, focuses on themes like gratitude, service and community, and “Supreme Models” examines the importance of Black models, fashion designers and editors, and their impact on fashion and society.
NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises released a national poll of the Latina community. In partnership with Hispanas Organized for Political Equality and Latino Victory Foundation, “The Latina Pulse: Champions of Change” surveyed Latinas across topics such as education, healthcare, workforce and politics. “The new poll shows that Latinas are leveraging their growing influence, bicultural heritage and personal strength to drive progress for out nation,” said Monica Gil, EVP, Chief Administrative & Marketing Officer at NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises. “With 31 million Latinas across the U.S. and Puerto Rico, they are entrepreneurial, highly-skilled and hold significant economic and political influence to lead positive outcomes across key priorities in our country.”

TBS renewed “Full Frontal with Samantha Bee” for a seventh season. The show will move from Wednesday nights to Thursdays when it returns in January 2022. The network has also renewed its first-look deal with Bee’s production company, Swimsuit Competition, for development of new program.
“Tiger” King is getting a sequel, part part of a new true-crime lineup of documentaries coming to Netflix. There’s no word yet on what the angle of “Tiger King 2” will be. However, Eric Good and Rebecca Chaiklin will reteam as directors and executive producers, while Chris Smith and Fisher Stevens also serve as EPs.
Lifetime has amped up its unscripted slate ordering three new shows. Plastic surgery transformation series “My Killer Body with K. Michelle” stars the R&B chart topper who revealed her personal health struggles after silicone injections nearly took her life. Dating series “Five Guys a Week” centers on one lady looking for love inviting five men she’s selected to move into her home. And family docuseries “Leave it to Geege” follows Geege Taylor, an Atlanta single mother of two whose life could be a Lifetime movie.
DC’s history and legacy will be explored in a three-part documentary series for HBO Max. The project hails from director, producer and showrunner Leslie Iwerks and Greg Berlanti and will be produced by Warner Bros. Unscripted Television in association with Warner Horizon, DC, Berlanti Productions and Iwerks & Co.
Broadway hit “A Soldier’s Play” is heading to television. Sony Pictures Television has ordered a TV adaptation as a limited series. David Alan Grier, a Tony nominee for his role in the play, is set to star and executive produce the project, which will be titled “A Soldier’s Story.”
KIN and TV One’s sister network, CLEO TV, struck a deal for original lifestyle series “It’s Me, Julissa.” Television host and actress Julissa Bermudez turns the spotlight on herself and shares her own journey in the series, launching on digital platforms in September and on CLEO TV in October.
Jake Coburn has inked a first-look agreement with Universal Television to develop and produce projects for broadcast, cable and streaming platforms. The deal expands Coburn’s relationship with the studio behind heist drama “The Endgame,” which he co-created and executive produces.
Casting Notes: Martha Higareda (“Into the Dark: Culture Shock,” “Altered Carbon”) and Emma Milani (“Solve”) have been added to the lead cast of Fox musical drama “Monarch.”… Camilla Belle (“Dollface”) is set to star in “10 Truths About Love” for streaming service Tubi. The fourth and final season of “Claws” bows Sunday, December 26 at 9p on TNT. The third season of the series ranked as a Top 10 cable drama in 2019.
“AEW: Dynamite” will debut on TBS on Wednesday, January 5. The pro wrestling series has been gaining in the ratings during its current run on WarnerMedia sister network, TNT.
“Ghosts” primetime debut has been expanded. The CBS comedy will feature back-to-back episodes on Thursday October 7 at 9p. To accommodate the move, Season 2 of Chuck Lorre’s B Positive will now bow Thursday, October 14 at 9:30p.
Season 3 of “The Orville” has finally received a premiere date. Hulu revealed that the Seth MacFarlane dramedy, now dubbed “The Orville: New Horizons” will debut on Thursday, March 10, 2022, nearly three years after its second season finale aired on Fox.
The 40th season of PBS award-winning series “Nature” debuts on Wednesday October 20. Executive Producer Fred Kaufman will be behind the camera, as he has been from the beginning, telling stories that connect viewers with some of the world’s most amazing creatures along explorations of remote landscapes.
“The Not-Too-Late Show with Elmo!” is returning to Cartoonito on HBO Max on Thursday, September 30. Celebrity guests including Drew Barrymore, Kelly Rowland, Seth Meyers, Aidy Bryant, Juanes, Busy Phillips joing Elmo and Co.

GAC Family airs “K-9 Hero Awards,” the network’s first-ever Veterans Days special, on Thursday, November 11 at 8p. The program showcases the achievements and service of fire department K-9s, police K-9s, military working dogs and search and rescue K-9s at the local, state and federal levels.
“Muppets Haunted Mansion,” the Muppets first Halloween Special, premieres Friday, October 8 exclusively on Disney+. Showtime announced the return of podcast “Dexter: New Blood Wrap-Up With Scott Reynolds” to launch on Friday, October 1, coinciding with the 15th anniversary of the original series starring Michael C. Hall. New episodes will drop weekly every Tuesday. The podcast premieres weeks before the release of limited series “Dexter: New Blood” on Sunday, November 7.
