The NCAA is looking to overhaul how college sports are governed, calling a special constitutional convention that will take place in November to discuss a potential new constitution for the NCAA and its member schools. Any changes recommended in November could be approved in January. “This is not about tweaking the model we have now,” NCAA president Mark Emmert said, per Yahoo. “This is about wholesale transformation so we can set a sustainable course for college sports for decades to come. We need to stay focused on the thing that matters most — helping students be as successful as they can be as both students and athletes.”

Speaking of changes, members of the Southeastern Conference voted unanimously to admit Texas and Oklahoma to the conference to begin play by the 2025-26 season, if not sooner. The pair of schools will the Big 12 close to $80 million in exit fees and could forfeit up to $160 million each in conference distributions. With the additions, the conference could potentially generate as much as $1.3 billion in revenues in 2024-25, per FOS.
