CBS is developing a 24-hour digital new net, Les Moonves told Bloomberg. "There are already too many players there for us to start a brand new cable network," said the CEO, "so we thought with all the content going digital right now, wouldn’t it be a good idea to do a 24-hour digital channel taking all the resources that CBS News has?" Moonves described the project as being in "early stages."
Moonves also shot down the rumor that Joel McHale is replacing Craig Ferguson on The Late Late Show a rumor started when Moonves’s wife, Julie Chen, tweeted a pic of the three of them. "It’s Upfront week, we went to some parties," said the exec. "Then we took a picture… there are no conversations underway. Joel McHale is a wonderful talent. Griffiths, senior editorial director and VP, CNN. Gumachian reported on Africa, Europe and the Middle East from CNN’s London bureau.
