IN THE NEWS
P&G has committed to a “significant media investment” to help transform the future of Black-owned media, shared Travis Montaque, Co-founder and CEO of Group Black, the collective of Black-owned media and diverse creators. “Our partnership with P&G represents by far the largest commitment from the industry to date,” said Montaque. “Real change takes real champions taking a leap of faith. We’re proud that P&G is championing our efforts and our partner in the fight for economic inclusion.”
Noted Charlotte La Niear, Senior Director for Multicultural Media at P&G, “With less than 1% of TV and digital and less than 5% of radio media inventory being Black-owned, available advertising inventory is a challenge… Our investment in Group Black will create more relevant, resonant and effective media to build our brands, and contribute to economic inclusion, purchasing power, and market growth.”
Vistar Media’s DOOH activation for the Ad Council’s “It’s Up To You” COVID-19 vaccination education campaign drove a 6 % lift in intent to get vaccinated, and a 22% lift in consideration of seeking out information about COVID-19 vaccines within the next month. The Ad Council also saw a 64% increase in consumer awareness of the DOOH campaign messaging, and intent to get vaccinated among those with very high vaccine hesitancy rose by 29%. “Given this campaign had such a heavy geotargeting element, being able to extend our reach in key areas using Vistar’s digital OOH platform was instrumental to the success of this campaign and encouraging people to seek more information about the COVID-19 vaccine,” said the Liz DeAngelis, VP, Media, The Ad Council.
Dentsu, Havas Media, IPG Mediabrands, Omnicom Group, Publicis Media, and WPP/GroupM are joining forces with the non-profit organization We All Rise Together, to provide full scholarships to diverse students enrolled in the inaugural Media track of CCNY’s Master’s in Branding + Integrated Communications (BIC) graduate degree program, launching in Fall 2022. “This is the kind of collectivist initiative that highlights how much more we can do together to bring about the kind of change we want to see in the industry,” said Hermon Ghermay, Global Chief Culture Officer at Mediabrands. “Everyone was energized by the impact that we could have, working across agency lines, to continue to immerse these students in the media industry during and after the program.”
“Archive 81” will not make it to season two on Netflix. The series, inspired by the supernatural horror podcast, focuses on an archivist drawn into an investigation of a dangerous cult.

More than half (54%) of consumers have heard of the metaverse, and 21% say they’ve heard a lot, according to Hub’s “A New Frontier” study. But only 15% said they feel very confident they could explain what it is to someone else. Among gamers, that number rises to 38%. “For something that doesn’t exist yet, consumer awareness of the metaverse is high,” said Jon Giegengack, Hub Founder and Principal. “But few people understand what it is, or more importantly why they should care about it. The earliest adopters will be in categories like gaming, where there’s a smaller gap between what the metaverse offers and what people are doing already.”
