Cynopsis: Kids!
10/27/10

Good morning. It’s Wednesday, October 27, 2010, and this is your first early morning Kids briefing.

Beginning today in India, Disney Channel‘s programming content is available to mobile consumers under a new deal with Apalya TV, a content aggregator for mobile TV services.  This marks the first time that Disney Channel’s long-form content will be available across India to mobile and data card users.  Consumers with a GPRS connection can download the mobile TV application of their operator from the mobile-enabled WAP sites of their respective service providers and will get Disney Channel as a part of basic package. Disney Channel is also available as a standalone premium channel on the mobile TV service of various mobile and data card operators. Apalya TV services are available via mobile networks including Idea, Vodafone, Airtel, Aircel, BSNL, MTNL, Reliance, Docomo, Tata Indicom, Tata Photon Plus, Virgin VFlash, and Reliance Net Connect among others.

NEW PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT

Warner Bros. acquires a pitch from Kevin and Dan Hagerman (Lego movie) for a mixed live-action and CGI animated movie that focuses on the inner workings of life at the ACME warehouse  best known as where the Looney Tunes cartoons get all their various supplies, per Heat Vision.  The Hagerman brothers have been developing the concept with the help of producers Dan Lin and Roy Lee.  The Looney Tunes characters will not be featured in the movie, but lots of the crazy ACME devices will be.  The look of the movie is described as being like the Amblin movies of the 1980s or in the vain of the Men in Black movie.

Zack Galifianakis joins the cast of the upcoming Muppet movie, The Muppets (working title), per an interview on E! Online.  Seems that Galifianakis will shoot for a few days, indicating it might be a cameo role.  The new untitled Muppet movie cast already includes Jason Segel, who also co-wrote the screenplay, and Amy Adams, Rashida Jones and Chris Cooper.

MORE KIDS STUFF

SpongeBob SquarePants sets off on a mystery adventure to retrieve the Krabby Patty recipe from its safe place for Mr. Krabs in the new half-hour special, Mystery with a Twistery, debuting Thursday, November at 8p on Nickelodeon.

Picture Box Distribution, a Canadian-based distributor of kid’s programming, picks up the sales rights to Go Figure (52×1), a new preschool 2D animated short-form series that is currently in development.  Produced by Colombia-based 4direcciones, Go Figure is based on a Latin American board book series, which helps preschoolers work on their concentration and analytic skills.  Under the deal Picture Box takes all media rights for the property outside of Latin America, and will be seeking to ink TV deals, as well as digital media partners.

Former Vice President Al Gore is set to host a live interactive online town hall, entitled Math, Science and the Future of our Nation, which will be carried online by Time Warner Cable, as part of its Connect a Million Minds (CAMM) that aims to connect young people to ideas, people and opportunities to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).  Set for November 17 at 12p, this live town hall forum will connect kids around the world to noted scientists and inventors including the remarkable Dean Kamen ( www.dekaresearch.com/founder.shtml , www.usfirst.org ) and the amazing astronaut Sally Ride ( www.sallyridescience.com, www.jsc.nasa.gov/Bios/htmlbios/ride-sk.html ).  For more information about viewing party locations and other ways to view and take part in the event go to connectamillionminds.com ( www.connectamillionminds.com ).
