Amazon Prime Video and the NBA announced an 11-year media rights agreement, beginning with the 2025-26 NBA season. Prime Video will present exclusive global coverage of 66 regular-season NBA games, including an opening week doubleheader, a new Black Friday NBA game, and all games from the Knockout Rounds of the Emirates NBA Cup.
The news didn’t sit well with Warner Bros. Discovery network TNT. “We have matched the Amazon offer, as we have a contractual right to do, and do not believe the NBA can reject it,” said a statement from TNT Sports. “We think they have grossly misinterpreted our contractual rights with respect to the 2025-26 season and beyond, and we will take appropriate action. We look forward, however, to another great season of the NBA on TNT and Max including our iconic Inside the NBA.”
While Warner Bros. Discovery had informed the league that it was exercising its right to match Amazon’s offer, “Warner Bros. Discovery’s most recent proposal did not match the terms of Amazon Prime Video’s offer and, therefore, we have entered into a long-term arrangement with Amazon,” said the NBA in a statement. “Throughout these negotiations, our primary objective has been to maximize the reach and accessibility of our games for our fans. Our new arrangement with Amazon supports this goal by complementing the broadcast, cable and streaming packages that are already part of our new Disney and NBCUniversal arrangements. All three partners have also committed substantial resources to promote the league and enhance the fan experience.”
NBCUniversal’s live coverage of the Opening Ceremony for the Paris Olympics on Friday will include a commercial-free hour beginning at 1:30p on NBC and Peacock. It’s the first time the opening ceremony will run without ads, and comes thanks to Team USA partners The Coca-Cola Company, Delta, Lilly, Toyota Motor Corporation, Visa, and Xfinity, whose brand logos will have a presence onscreen and rotate throughout the hour in 10-minute increments. “The Opening Ceremony will be packed with emotion and evoke a profound sense of unity for everyone watching,” said Dan Lovinger, President, Olympic & Paralympic Partnerships, NBCUniversal. “Running commercial-free will help to amplify this grand spectacle.” Coverage will be hosted by NBC Olympics primetime host Mike Tirico alongside champions Kelly Clarkson (“American Idol”) and Peyton Manning (Super Bowl).
Fox News has invited presidential hopefuls Kamala Harris and Donald Trump to debate on September 17. Fox Media President and Executive Editor Jay Wallace and Fox News VP of Politics Jessica Loker sent a letter to the Harris and Trump campaigns proposing an event to take place in the battleground state of Pennsylvania, moderated by Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum (though “We are open to a discussion on the exact date, format and location — with or without an audience,” said the execs). Along with the invitation were viewership statistics, including FNC’s strength with key demographics in swing states. While ABC is slated to host a debate on September 10, shortly after President Biden dropped out of race, Trump posted on Truth Social, “I think the Debate, with whomever the Radical Left Democrats choose, should be held on FoxNews, rather than very biased ABC.”
Interpublic is evaluating “strategic alternatives” for its digital agencies, Huge and R/GA, confirmed IPG CEO Philippe Krakowsky. During an earnings call, Krakowsky said that should the struggling agencies be sold off, it would be part of a broader remix of assets that could include acquisitions to foster a more rapid transformation and greater scale in the commerce and retail media areas.
A federal judge ruled that Donald Trump’s lawsuit accusing ABC News and George Stephanopoulos of defamation can proceed. At issue is a March TV interview during which Stephanopoulos stated that a jury had found Trump liable for rape, when in fact the jury didn’t find the former president liable for rape under New York’s definition of the act. The case can now move to the discovery phase. |

Meta has released a new open source AI model it touts as “the world’s largest and most capable openly available foundation model.” Llama 3.1 405B is available in more languages and countries and has a new feature that generates images based on someone’s specific likeness. Partners including AWS, NVIDIA, Databricks, Groq, Dell, Azure, Google Cloud, and Snowflake are offering services. “We believe the latest generation of Llama will ignite new applications and modeling paradigms, including synthetic data generation to enable the improvement and training of smaller models, as well as model distillation – a capability that has never been achieved at this scale in open source,” said the company in a blog post.
With some X users reporting they received error messages when they tried to follow @KamalaHQ after President Biden endorsed Kamala Harris for president, Rep.
