Cynopsis: Kids!
03.06.13

Good morning. It’s Wednesday, March 6, 2013, and this is your first early morning briefing.

Today’s Top Headlines

Ratings Roundup: It’s an epic week at The Hub, as the network scores both its best telecast and the best Saturday in its history in P2+, households, and key adult demos. The March 2 premiere of Ice Age 2: The Meltdown delivered the top-ever telecast with P2+, households, and adults 25-54 and drove The Hub’s best Saturday in P2+, households, adults 18-49, and adults 25-54.

A new episode of Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants was the top program in K2-11, K6-11 and tweens 9-14 across all TV for the week of Feb. 25. The episode, titled “Little Yellow Book,” aired March 2 to 4.7 million total viewers, and posted double-digit gains with K2-1, K6-11, tweens 9-14 and total viewers.

It is, indeed, good to be a princess. Based on its regal out-of-the-box ratings, Disney Junior is giving Sofia the First the royal treatment. The network is ordering up a second season of the animated show, cable’s current top series among kids 2-5, girls 2-5 and boys 2-5. Sofia is also the top preschooler cable series in total viewers and women 18-49.

For in-depth ratings, please see the By the Numbers section in this issue and tomorrow’s issue.

Programming Picks

Popular children’s character Mister Maker will embark on a global journey next year in the new spin-off Mister Maker Around The World, created by Zodiak Media company The Foundation. The series heads into production this spring and is slated for debut on CBeebies in 2014.

Disney Channel will premiere the third season of A.N.T. Farm on May 31 with a special one-hour episode. The episode features the new original song “Stars Aligning,” performed by Hollywood Records recording artist McClain.

Digital Updates

Fasten your seatbelt. Games developer Chillingo, a division of Electronic Arts, is teaming with licensor Peanuts Worldwide to bring Snoopy Coaster to the app store. The game takes players on a rollercoaster ride with everyone’s favorite beagle and buddies.
