What do kids/tweens lie about most?  Find out in the new Nick News with Linda Ellerbee special, Lies We Tell in Middle School, debuting on Sunday, March 6 at 9p on Nickelodeon.  In addition to kids talking about what they lied about and why, the special features celebrities talking what they lied about as kids. Celebrities featured in the special include Owen Wilson, Donald Faison, Jeff Foxworthy, Guy Fieri, Victoria Justice, the Big Time Rush guys, Rosie Perez and Niecy Nash.

Imira Entertainment completes broadcast deals for two kid-targeted series it represents, The Jungle Book and Dance Academy.

  • Spanish pubcaster TVE acquires the first season of DQ Entertainment’s HD animated series The Jungle Book (52×11).  Disney Channel also picks up the first two seasons of The Jungle Book (104×11) along with a one-hour special for air in Spain and Portugal.
  • In a separate deal, Spain’s Disney Channel picks up the first two seasons of the tween-targeted Dance Academy (52×26), which is produced by Werner Film Production with Screen Australia, Screen NSW, ABC< ACTF, ZDF and ZDF Enterprises.

m4e is named to oversee packaging rights for Toei Animation‘s anime series and brand Sailor Moon across German-speaking territories.  Under the deal m4e will handle free and pay TV, home entertainment, licensing and merchandising rights for the Sailor Moon property throughout Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Zinkia Entertainment‘s animated Pocoyo character is named as the worldwide kids’ ambassador for the World Wildlife Fund‘s (WWF) Earth HourBeyond The Hour” campaign.  As the global kids’ ambassador for Earth Hour, Pocoyo will be featured in animated content and online activities helping raise environmental awareness with kids, specifically encouraging kids and their families and friends to turn off the lights during Earth Hour and take other environment-friendly actions that “beyond the hour” to help Earth.  The 2001 Earth Hour initiative will be held on March 26, 2011, with kids asked to turn off their lights at home for one hour at 8:30p (in each respective time zone).  Further information about Pocoyo and Earth Hour activities can be found at .

Fluid World, Sanrio’s UK licensing agent, inks a license deal with William Lamb to produce a line of Hello Kitty footwear.  Under the deal Lamb is creating a line of footwear across all categories for kids and fashion slippers for women, which will launch in the UK next month.

Frank Gladstone is appointed as the new President, ASIFA-Hollywood, The International Animated Film Society.  Gladstone, an animator, producer, director, writer and teacher, takes over from Antran Manoogian, who has served as President for 20+ years.  Manoogian is credited with growing the organization to 4,000+ members and building the Annie Awards.  Gladstone says he’ll address several big issues for the organization; the biggest may be to revise the voting structure of the annual Annie Awards.  This last year Disney/Pixar opted out of the Annie awards, boycotting due to the voting structure that allows all ASIFA members to vote.  Additionally, Jerry Beck becomes VP, taking over for long-time VP Tom Sito, while Jeff Wike takes on the role of Treasurer, with Bill Turner returning as Secretary.
