09/06/12

Good morning. It’s Thursday, September 6, 2012, and this is your first early morning briefing.

Miniclip.com furthers its brand extension initiative by entering into an exclusive deal with Albie Hecht, CEO of Worldwide Biggies, to develop original content based on Miniclip’s most popular games for TV and online. Hecht, formerly President/Nickelodeon Entertainment, will initially focus efforts on some of Miniclip’s top games with young players, including Gravity Guy, Hambo, Sketch Star, Canyon Defense, Monster Island, Extreme Skater, iStunt, Minipets and 8 Ball Pool. It has been a significant year for Miniclip, which ran its first national kids meal promotion with Del Taco this, made its debut appearance at Licensing Expo, and recently launched a new site design offering new features such as the option to play its mobile titles online.

NEW PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT

David Slade (The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, Hard Candy, Hannibal (TV series)) will direct Disney‘s new movie Matched, which is based on the first book in a trilogy by author Ally Condie, per Heat Vision. Adam Shankman and Jennifer Gibgot are producing the movie that features a script by Michelle and Kieran Mulroney (Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows). A love story, Matched is set in a futuristic dystopian society where the government dictates everything, including what people believe, read and who and when they marry (they use algorithms to figure out who your match is), and when you die. The story centers on a Cassia, a teen who rebels against these ways. Published by Dutton Juvenile, the second book in the trilogy is Crossed, which was released November 2011, and the final book in the series, Reached, will release November 13, 2012.
