Good morning, it’s Thursday, May 10, 2007 and this is your first early morning briefing, from the Cable Show 2007 in Las Vegas.

Time Warner has confirmed Chris Albrecht is out as Chairman/CEO at HBO. This confirmation comes after Albrecht’s arrest and misdemeanor charge this past Sunday morning in Las Vegas for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend and the announcement Tuesday he was taking a leave of absence to work with Alcoholics Anonymous after admitting he had started drinking again. HBO COO, Bill Nelson will take over Albrecht’s duties until the company appoints a new CEO.

~ MORE GOOD STUFF ~

The PPV bout between Oscar de la Hoya and Floyd Mayweather earned a record breaking $120 million in pay-per-view fees, representing 2.15 million ppv orders.  That sets a new record, above and beyond the Mike Tyson v. Evander Holyfield fight in 1997. If you missed the fight, HBO will replay it on Saturday night at 10p.

CMT will debut its first episode of CMT Diary on May 25 at 8p featuring country music star Gretchen Wilson. The hour-long series will give viewers an intimate look inside an artists’ life on the road and off. Future episodes will feature Martina McBride among others. The series is produced by Den of Thieves.

Discovery Channel will premiere six new episodes of the series Man vs. Wild starting June 15 at 9p through July. Each episode will chronicle how Bear Grylls survives in the Florida Everglades to the snowy mountains of Scotland armed only with the basics. Season two of Man vs. Wild is scheduled for this fall. The series is produced by Diverse Production Ltd.

Travel Channel will traverse the globe with celebrities and entrepreneurs in its newest series Jet Set ready to debut this Sunday at 10p. The hour-long program is created and hosted by travel enthusiast Philip Levine and will showcase how successful business people live, work and play. The series is produced by Reveille and Dalaklis McKeown Entertainment.

Oxygen’s Tori & Dean: Inn Love had a 0.54 HH rating and an average of 505,000 total viewers tuning in to the season finale Tuesday night, which was the highest-rated episode for the series. Incidentally, the finale episode’s highest ratings were with W18-24 at 1.4.

A&E Network will introduce viewers to its latest original reality series Confessions of a Matchmaker on June 16 at 10p. This matchmaker is Patti Novak, owner of a six year-old lonely hearts service in Buffalo, NY, a city which has the largest population of singles per capita in the nation. The series is produced by Sharp Entertainment.

New York-based SDR Rockfleet Holdings, LLC has filed an application with the FCC to transfer Fox affiliated station WFQX/Cadillac-Traverse City, MI to Cadillac Telecasting Co. of Arizona. Cadillac Telecasting is expected to enter into a shared services agreement with Michigan-based Heritage Broadcasting Co., owner of WWTV/Cadillac and WWUP/Sault Ste. Marie to operate WFQX.

AmericanLife Network has just acquired the classic TV show Mission: Impossible from CBS Television Distribution. The show will begin this October and air in the network’s primetime classic TV line-up. Okay, sing along now … dunt dunt dunt dunt dunt dunt dunt dunt, dunt da daaaaaah, dunt da daaaaaaah …..

Fox Cable Networks has signed a distribution agreement with Comcast allowing the cable company to add the action sports network, FUEL TV to its digital offerings. With this new addition, FUEL TV will be available to more than 50 million cable and satellite homes by the end of 2007.

~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~

Lester Holt will add Anchor duties for NBC Nightly News on Saturday and Sunday to his roster, effective immediately. He will continue as co-anchor for the weekend editions of Today as well as news correspondent and anchor sub for the weeknight Nightly News and file stories for MSNBC. Lester will also take on special assignments for the news division.

Tom Selleck has been lured back to primetime TV, joining NBC’s drama series Las Vegas next season as the billionaire new owner of the Montecito Resort & Casino. In addition, James Caan, who announced his departure from the show after this season’s finale, will appear one more time in the 2007-2008 season premiere episode.

Casting Call: Gospel Music Channel (GMC) is seeking undiscovered, unsigned gospel music talent from around the country. All genres of gospel music will be accepted and if it passes the network’s criteria it will be shown one of four ways: on the television program Kitchen Sink during weekly Hometown Gospel segments; online at GMC’s web site at www.gospelmusicchannel.com ; on-demand nationally through GMC’s National VOD package; or on-demand locally via local VOD content through cable providers. Vin Di Bona Productions has added Daniel Lux as VP/Development and has advanced Jeff Foster to Director/Development

Court TV has tapped Nancy McKenna as VP/Production Operations where she will participate in the network’s long-tern program planning. She will also supervise production and delivery schedules, production and programming administration among other duties. She will dually report to Ed Hersh, EVP/Current Programming and Darren Campo, SVP/Programming.

TUESDAY – A18-49 Analysis:  FOX was #1 Tuesday night with an 8.9/25 A18-49, according to fast affiliate ratings from Nielsen Media Research. ABC and CBS both finished in second place with 2.8/8, followed by NBC 2.4/7, UNIV 1.7/5, CW 1.4/4 and TELE 0.5/1. FOX’s American Idol reigned at 8p with 8.9/27, and surprisingly this week FOX’s House at 9p matched its lead-in’s ratings with 8.9/23. NBC came in first at 10p with Law & Order: SVU at 3.7/10.
