Online comedy video hub My Damn Channel rebranded to Omnivision Entertainment on Friday, to include branded entertainment and talent initiatives under its umbrella. First step: signing up YouTube viral vid What Languages Sound Like To Foreigners star Sara Mari Forsberg (10 million views since March). Under the deal, Omnivision will manage Forsberg’s existing YT channels as well as create new content together. Most recently, Omnivision struck its first TV deal with HLN to produce entertainment buzz show Videocracy. Former My Damn Channel CEO and founder Rob Barnett will remain in the role for Omnivision, and co-founder Warren Chao will become president.
Conde Nast has unrolled a new digital video channel for Allure and a TV show from Vanity Fair. The Allure channel, available at video.allure.com and its YouTube channel, features four new series: Hair Tyrant with Ashley Javier, Cassandra to the Rescue, Beauty Evolution and Beauty Basics. Vanity Fair’s TV venture, Vanity Fair Confidential, will debut on Investigation Discovery in Q4 as a behind-the-scenes show on the magazine’s investigative journalism pieces.
Corday Productions (Days of Our Lives) and All Screens Media announced a joint venture on Friday that puts control in the hands of soap opera fans. Original online content for the international market "is about taking the passion consumers have for soaps and novelas into a new era," said Corday CEO Ken Corday. "This will be original content that fans will play a role in greenlighting and casting, delivered in a form that can build devoted communities of fans in the digital space."
The Academy of Country Music and CBS are teaming up for AMC Sessions, an online concert series from artist Hunter Hayes, available on-demand at CBS.com and CBS Audience Network partner sites. Hayes performed live at the 49th Annual Academy OF Country Music Awards last night.
YouTube‘s long awaited music service may be pushed to the side once again. Billboard reports YT has changed the launch date to "second quarter or beyond," well past the expected late 2013 introduction. YT’s music platform is likely to compete with the likes of Spotify and offer on-demand music streaming.

Today, Google is introducing a campaign to promote YouTube creators with ads appearing across its properties, TV spots, print and out-of-home signs. AdAge reports the promotion is the first time YouTube has turned to the traditional TV screen, and will highlight beauty, fashion and cooking creators Michelle Phan, Bethany Mota and Rosanna Pansino. The ads developed with Co:Collective will broadcast during ABC Family and The CW programming, placed in magazines like Allure, Seventeen and Entertainment Weekly as well as through Rovio’s Angry Birds mobile game.
Car brands are continuing to shift gears toward online media. After seeing Acura partner with Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedian in Cars Getting Coffee and Ford with AOL, Toyota is linking up with action sports network Network A for a snowboard innovation series called Every Third Thursday. Fast Company reports the agency behind the integration, Brand Arc, is known for bringing the automaker into shows like Modern Family and Top Chef. The Toyota 4Runner is exclusively used in each episode. "We consistently look to partner brands with content creators and innovators… [and the show] with [host David Lee’s] dynamic personality, is a compelling digital series that attracts an audience with an affinity for action sports, and is strategically aligned with the 4Runner sensibilities," said agency senior producer Jason Rowlett.
Eyeview announced a new video ad solution available on connected TV devices like Roku or Xbox to deliver more personalized ads. The connected TV solution can also use smart devices to target ads based on the device, location and time of day. "Television advertising is a fantastic medium for mass marketing, but can be cost-prohibitive and inefficient when it comes to targeting," said Eyeview’s CEO Oren Harnevo. "The convergence of television and digital video provides brand marketers with new channels to reach addressable audiences at scale."
Twitter is once again amping up the competition with Facebook, announcing that Vine will now include a private video sharing and messaging feature, not unlike WhatsApp, acquired by FB in February. The update allows Vine users to send the six-second videos to friends even if they’re not Viners. "From Vine’s early days, we recognized that there was a growing desire and need for private messaging on Vine," Twitter’s Product Manager Jason Toff wrote in a blog post. "We’ve watched the community come up with some clever ways to send videos to their friends as we’ve been working on this solution."
