Cynopsis: Kids!

06/06/11

Good morning. It’s Friday, June 6, 2011, and this is your first early morning Kids briefing.

We Can Change the World, the new musical anthem for Disney’s Friends for Change that is performed and co-written by teen actress and Hollywood Records recording artist Bridgit Mendler (Good Luck Charlie, Lemonade Mouth), will premiere Friday, June 10 on Radio Disney at 7p and Disney Channel during the 7p hour.  The following day the song and the music video will be available via Disney.com/ProjectGreen ( www.disney.com/projectgreen) and iTunes, respectively.  The new song is the third Disney’s Friends for Change anthem; previous songs helped raise $800,000+ to help fund conservation projects worldwide.  Disney’s Friends for Change is a multiplatform effort designed to encourage kids/families to work together to make a positive impact on their world.

MORE KIDS STUFF

HGTV helps Radio Disney celebrate its 15th birthday with a makeover of the Radio Disney studio in Burbank on debut episode of HGTV’s new show My Yard Goes Disney, tonight at 8p.  The episode features Radio Disney’s on-air talent as well as Disney Channel’s Caroline Sunshine (Shake It Up).

The Endangerbles Licensing Group releases its debut kid-targeted educational music CD, The Endangerbles, featuring 10 original wildlife-focused tracks that are composed by Fred Bogert, this month.  Bogert was part of the great kid/family-centric folk duo Trout Fishing In America.  The CD, which aims to encourage kids to respect and protect all animal species (including humans), is available via e-retailers, including iTunes and CD Baby.

MARKETING/LICENSING

Turner CN Enterprises (TCNE), the licensing arm of Turner Broadcasting, is named as the licensing agent for Bananas in Pyjamas in partnership with Endemol Worldwide Brands across Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).  Turner Broadcasting recently acquired the new 3D CGI-animated Bananas in Pyjamas (104×12) that will debut on Turner’s UK preschool channel Cartoonito, which is set to extend its broadcast across EMEA this September 2011.  In addition to Cartoonito, Bananas in Pyjamas will broadcast across EMEA on Turner’s other kids’ channels, Boomerang, CN Arabic and Boom PAN.  Bananas in Pyjamas (known here as Bananas in Pajamas) originally aired on Australian ABC Television in 1992.

Lucas Licensing appoints Kidz Entertainment/EEMC to represent Star Wars, across Eastern Europe and the Nordics.  Kidz will work with key partners, including The Lego Group and Hasbro, to bolster the brand’s positioning in the Nordics as the popularity continues to grow, particularly with boys, across Eastern Europe.  The move comes as all six Star Wars movies are being converted into 3D and set for re-release, beginning with Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace in 2012.

One Entertainment inks North American licensing deals for some well-known international soccer teams Manchester United, FC Barcelona, and Juventus.  New licensees include: Adjmi Group/IFG (men’s apparel); Wincraft (gift and novelty); Rhinox Group (accessories); Gamewear (bracelets); Fathead (wall decor); and Stay Chilled (can Koozies).  Products featuring the Manchester United, FC Barcelona, and Juventus soccer teams will debut at retail in North America this summer in conjunction their multi-city US tour.  Further deals across categories including youth apparel, sporting goods, and men’s fashion apparel will be announced soon.

Netherlands-based Glow Europe will launch its new K5-11 targeted collectible toy product, Bumpeez (about $3.00), in the UK this August 24, 2011.  A Bumpee toy is comprised of two parts, a circular chip featuring 100 individual character deigns, which is encased in a brightly colored, removable silicon ring that comes in different shapes, colors and sizes.  When the chip is placed in the right, Bumpeez can bounce and be used to play games.  Kids can also collect premium Bumpeez, which include a silver glitter chip in a black silicon ring, a swirl silicon ring and a Golden Bumpee, the most rare of them all, which contains a code that is redeemable for a prize.  The Bumpeez ( www.bumpeez.com ) website will go live simultaneous to the product launch.  UK based distribution partners Click Distribution and Seymour Distribution will distribute Bumpeez to toy trades, newsagents and grocers across the country.  Following its UK debut, plans are in the works to introduce Bumpeez throughout Europe and the rest of the world.
