Cynopsis: Kids!
09/23/11

Good morning. It’s Friday, September 23, 2011, and this is your first early morning Kids briefing.

Author Roald Dahl‘s popular book The Enormous Crocodile heads to TV.  Adastra Creative and Dahl’s literary estate have partnered to produce the very first animated TV series based on a book by the author.  The Enormous Crocodile series (52×11) aims to remain faithful to the unique storytelling style and distinctive illustrations as it follows the new humorous adventures of the hopeless Enormous Crocodile.  Penning the series are Mellie Buse and Jan Page of Adastra, creators of the series Grandpa in my Pocket.  Adastra is currently in discussions with UK broadcasters for the series, and is also seeking other UK and international partners.

Lord Waheed Alli, formerly Chairman of Chorion, and his new company Silvergate Media, has acquired the rights to Chorion’s properties The World of Beatrix Potter and The Octonauts, per The Guardian.  Earlier this month Alli stepped down as Chairman of Chorion Entertainment, along with the company’s Deputy Chairman William Astor, after their failed efforts to renegotiate the entertainment rights company’s debut (which is estimated to be about $114 million).  At that time DC Advisory Partners was charged with managing the sale of Chorion’s assets.  The World of Beatrix Potter and The Octonauts are the first are the first of those assets to be sold by Chorion.  The terms of the deal were not made public.  Chorion’s other properties include Mr. Men, Paddington Bear, and Enid Blyton’s Noddy, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Olivia, as well as the Agatha Christie estate and Raymond Chandler, and Georges Simenon.
