ZeptoLab, the company behind the game Cut the Rope, launches its new mixed live-action/animated series, Om Nom Stories, based on the little green monster from Cut the Rope, on the ZeptoLab YouTube channel. Set in a live-action world, the series features the adventures of the animated Om Nom. The first season of Om Nom Stories is comprised of 10 episodes, the first episode running just under 90 seconds, which will debut now through the beginning of 2013. Discussions for a second season, which would include 40 episodes, are currently underway. Also debuting this week is a new video player for Cut the Rope and Cut the Rope: Experiments. Available via an update to the games across iOS and Android platforms, fans can watch Om Nom Stories episodes directly through the app. Players of Cut the Rope and Cut the Rope: Experiments have the option to receive alerts about new episodes through push notifications, or they will see an alert on the app icon itself that a new episode is available. Fans can also share episodes with their friends from within the app through Facebook, Twitter and email.

Denny’s restaurants partners with Warner Bros. Pictures for a promotion built around Peter Jackson’s upcoming movie The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, which is the first three movies based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s book and is set for release in theaters December 14, 2012. The promotion, which launches November 6, will feature eleven Hobbit movie inspired menu items, such as the Hobbit Hole Breakfast and Frodo’s Pot Roast Skillet, as well as 12 exclusive collectible Hobbit movie trading cards. Additionally, consumers can connect with more movie content by scanning one of four QR codes on Denny’s placemats in-restaurant, including access to The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey exclusive video content and online games among other things. Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is a production of New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures (MGM).
Little Pim, a foreign language learning system for young kids, is been released for download or rental at the iTunes store. The first language to be released for kids is Spanish, with the first three videos, Let’s Eat!, Get Up and Go! and Let’s Play! Each video has a unique kid-friendly theme such as eating and playtime. The Little Pim’s Entertainment Immersion Method aims to teach 360 words and phrases to provide the stage for language learning.
Andy Garcia and Placido Domingo star in Nickelodeon‘s new Dora the Explorer 1hr special, Dora’s Royal Rescue, based on Miguel de Cervantes classic book Don Quixote, premiering Monday, November 5, at 7. Garcia and Domingo lend their voices to Don Quixote and Malambruno, respectively, in the special as Dora, who plays a knight, and Boots, her squire, help the horse Rocinante, rescue Don Quixote who is imprisoned by the evil wizard Malambruno. NickJr.com (www.nickjr.com) is currently featuring the trailer for the episode and also meet characters from the special, print a Dora Royal Rescue Coloring Songbook, make a Storybook Castle Puppet Theater and find literacy activities based on the special. Additionally, kids can also play the new online game, Dora’s Royal Rescue Game, on the website.
Nicktoons will begin premiering new episodes of the animated action/adventures series Monsuno tonight, Friday, October 26, at 10p. Monsuno is co-produced by Pacific Animation Partners, a joint venture between Jakks Pacific and Dentsu Entertainment USA, with FremantleMedia Enterprises and The Topps Company. Jakks Pacific is the creator of the underlying Monsuno property and master toymaker for the Monsuno toy line. The Topps Company produces Monsuno trading card games, confectioneries and related products.
Rico Rodriguez (Modern Family) makes a guest appearance in a new episode R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour: The Series, titled The Weeping Woman, premiering tomorrow, Saturday, October 27 at 6p on The Hub.
Komixx Entertainment appoints UK-based independent media planning and buying agency the7stars, to plan and implement a US $2.4 million integrated campaign to support its animated preschool series Toby’s Traveling Circus campaign for 2013. Toby’s Traveling Circus launched on Channel 5’s Milkshake (UK) last month and a second season of the series has already been ordered and slated to air in 2014-15. Additionally, Komixx has inked a print and digital publishing deal with Random house Children’s Publishers UK (RHCP).
Everloop.com, a COPPA-compliant social networking site for kids under 13, launches its kid/tween-targeted free mobile social app Everloop Goobit, which is available for iOS devices. Everloop Goobit offers a variety of features, including required parental verification and moderated communication, while also providing kids/tweens with the opportunity to post, comment, share and “like” things – on their own “loops” and on “loops” they choose. The app also includes Everloop’s “Goobs” practical joke feature, so that kids can “Goob” one another with splattering virtual bugs or a virtual toilet papering on each other’s mobile screens.
Budge Studios, a Montreal-based publisher and developer of interactive kid’s books, games, and digital toys for multiple platforms, launches Chuggington Traintastic Adventures app for iOS devices. Based on Ludorum‘s CGI animated Chuggington series, the new app features a virtual train set that allows preschoolers to explore and help Chuggington in an interactive adventure. The app also features an additional Build and Play mode lets players customize the experience by adding buildings, interactive rail items and upgrade and personalize their trains with various accessories. Budge Studios developed Minnie Bow Maker and Dora’s Ballet Adventure.
