Be Viacom France, an ad sales function of Viacom International Media Networks, signs its first ever exclusive car deal for a limited edition Nissan Note featuring Nickelodeon branding and an array of SpongeBob SquarePants and Dora the Explorer goodie pack and programming additions to the car interior. A limited edition of 1,000 Nickelodeon branded cars go on sale this summer 2012 in France and will be supported by on-air, online, print and outdoor ad spots, and will be released in September in Belgium and the Netherlands. The cars are also being promoted at the Nickelodeon Summer Tour, which features daylong family live events in 10 seaside towns in south and west of France. The exterior of the cars feature Nickelodeon branded window pillars and rear bumpers. While inside the cars a Sony Tablet, featuring SpongeBob SquarePants headphones, is embedded with 100 episodes of Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. series including SpongeBob SquarePants and Dora the Explorer, Victorious, Big Time Rush and Team Umizoomi. In addition, the tablet is loaded with six Android App downloads. The Nissan Note Nickelodeon is available only in Nissan car dealerships.

The Wildflower Group is appointed as the licensing agent for Goodnight Moon from HarperCollins Children’s Books and Raggedy Ann & Andy from Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing. Under the multi-year deals, The Wildflower Group will build on the longtime success of the two book-based brands with licensing and merchandising programs that provide new ways for families to enjoy these iconic childhood properties. The Wildflower Group acquires licensing rights to Goodnight Moon for all categories and promotions except electronics, pursuing partners in infant apparel, accessories, bedding and room decor, gifts and collectibles, HBA and stationary, among others, for the US and Canada. For Raggedy Ann & Andy, the agency plans to expand the brand in all categories except ragdolls and in such areas as collectibles, home decor, and crafts & fabrics worldwide.
ToonBox Entertainment and Redrover appoint Dutch-based KidsPlant Distribution a European licensing agent for Bolts & Blip in Benelux. KidsPlant will also handle distribution rights for the animated Bolts & Blip TV series (26×22) and the movie in Germany, Benelux, Scandinavia and Poland. A broadcast deal for Northern Europe is in the works. Bolts & Blip TV series, which is co-produced by Redrover and ToonBox Entertainment, airs in 70+ territories in 2D as well as in 3D stereoscopic on key 3D channels including 3net (US), BSkyB (UK) and Skylife (Korea).

The ZhuZhu Pets, the popular hamster toys, are singing the Beatles songs on the new CD ZhuZhu Pets Meet The Beatles, which releases Tuesday, July 31, 2012. The family-targeted label, In The Zone Entertainment (ITZ Entertainment), is distributing the CD via INgrooves Fontana/Universal. The title features the ZhuZhus singing song from The Beatles’ first LP, Meet The Beatles, along with a ZhuZhu Pets Beatles Medley. The medley will get its own digital download release ahead of the CD on June 19, 2012. The CD is produced by Ken Stacey, who is also a singer in his own right and has coached several American Idol hopefuls. Launched in 2011, ITZ Entertainment’s debut release was the soundtrack for the animated movie Quest For Zhu.
Teletoon Canada unveils the initial programming schedules for Cartoon Network (6a-9p) and its late-night counterpart Adult Swim (9p-6a), which are both set to launch in Canada on Wednesday July 4, 2012. The Adult Swim programming includes Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!, The Venture Bros., Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Squidbillies and Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law. The lineup for Cartoon Network begins July 4 and includes:

Cookie Jar Entertainment and Fuhu, creator of the nabi tablet and Fooz Kids app, enter into a licensing partnership for the new nabi 2 tablet (www.nabitablet.com) 7-inch tablet specifically for kids. Under the deal Cookie Jar will provide kid content from its library, including Inspector Gadget and Busytown Mysteries, and will also serve as the exclusive content provider for the Fooz Kids app. The nabi 2 tablet (USD$199.99) releases across the US this July 2012.
Corus Entertainment’s YTV (Canada) series The Next Star returns for a fifth season (11×60) beginning Monday, July 16 at 7p. Produced by Tricon Films and Television in association with YTV, the new season features Canadian kids competing to be The Next Star. The winner will be voted The Next Star on the series’ finale on Sunday, September 23 at 7p, broadcast live from Canada’s Wonderland. Hosted again by Adamo Ruggiero, this year’s judges and mentors are R&B/pop singer Keshia Chante, country singer and TV personality Tara Oram, and A&R exec at Universal Music Canada Mark Spicoluk. As always, viewers can look forward to special guests throughout the season. New content will be added beginning July 9, with further videos added throughout the series. Radio Disney will launch the fifth season of its music competition N.B.T. (Next Big Thing) this fall. New to N.B.T. competition this season is that the winner will perform a song on the Disney Channel series Austin & Ally, as well as having a single released by Disney Music Group and serving as the opening act for Radio Disney’s N.B.T. finale concert in LA. Over the course of 10 weeks, Radio Disney and Disney Channel audiences listen and vote for their favorite artist in the new N.B.T. season they can vote via RadioDisney.com and by texting. Radio Disney will introduce the season five N.B.T. artists (all between 12-17 years old) at a three-night showcase this weekend at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort, hosted by Radio Disney personality and N.B.T. host Jake Whetter, Friday-Sunday, June 22-24 (8P). Then, kicking off July 1 at Chicago’s Taste of Joliet is N.B.T. On Tour, is a 15-city concert tour featuring season five N.B.T. artists, among others. Viacom International Media Networks inks a range of Nickelodeon programming deals with broadcasters in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
- Free-to-air broadcaster Viasat (Baltics) signs on for a Nickelodeon package deal that includes Kung Fu Panda (season 1), a presale of Penguins of Madagascar (season 3), Planet Sheen (season 1), T.U.F.F. Puppy (season 1), Back at the Barnyard season 1 and The Troop (season 1). The package also includes a re-license deal for SpongeBob SquarePants (seasons 1-8) and Penguins of Madagascar (seasons 1 and 2).
- TV4 (Poland) acquires the girl-targeted animated series Winx Club (seasons 3 and 4 and specials).
- Other channels acquiring Nick programming include: Pro Plus (Slovenia) takes Avatar: The Last Airbender (season 1 and 2), Zoey 101 (season 4) and Penguins of Madagascar (season 1), Dora the Explorer (seasons 1 and 2), Go, Diego Go!
