Good morning. It’s Friday, December 17, 2010, and this is your first early morning Kids briefing.

Nickelodeon gives the go ahead on Bucket & Skinner’s Epic Adventures, a new multi-camera comedy that begins production this month for a February 2011 premiere on the network in the US and Nick channels worldwide.  Bucket & Skinner’s Epic Adventures is a buddy comedy that revolves around the misadventures of two surfer dude teens, Bucket and Skinner, as they try to make their way school and life.  The series comes from executive producer Tom Lynch (The Troop, South of Nowhere, Secret World of Alex Mack) and his The Tom Lynch Company, series creators and executive producers Boyce Bugliari and Jamie McLaughlin (Quintuplets, Kid Notorious) and executive producer Jonathan Stark (According to Jim).  The series stars Taylor Gray as Bucket and Dillon Lane as Skinner.  The series is one of five new series joining Nickelodeon’s programming lineup in early 2011, including Power Rangers Samurai, House of Anubis, the CG animated preschool series Bubble Guppies, and Supah Ninjas.

NEW PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT

Director Goro Miyazaki (Tales From Earthsea), son of acclaimed writer/director Hayao Miyazaki, will direct Studio Ghibli‘s new anime feature film, Kokuriko-zaka kara (its unofficial English-language title, From Kokuriko Slope), per Variety.  Based on the eponymous The elder Miyazaki will adapt the 1980 comic by Chizuru Takahashi and Tetsuro Sayama, the elder Miyazaki is writing the scrip in collaboration with Keiko Niwa, with Toshio Suzuki producing.  Set in 1963, just ahead of the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, the story revolves around a group of teen fighting to their clubhouse at their high school from being destroyed.  Hayao Miyazaki is a co-founder of Studio Ghibli.

A CYNOPSIS MESSAGE

Merry Christmas | Happy Holidays | Happy New Year

Cyn opsis Media will be off the week of December 27 – 31, 2010.
Don’t forget to read the 2010 Year in Review on January 1st 2011!

Past e-publications, classifieds & industry calendar of events can always be found on our website.

Friday Fun Fact: The world’s largest yo-yo resides in the National YoYo Museum in Chico, California. Named “Big Yo,” the 256-pound yoyo is an exact scale replica of a Tom Kuhn “No Jive 3 in 1 YoYo.” Fifty inches tall and 31.5 inches wide, the yo-yo is made of California sugar pine, baltic birch from the former USSR, and hardrock maple.

Answer to Yesterday’s Trivia:   What animated sci-fi character is quote with this enlightened story:  “”It’s just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long, the grasshopper kept burying acorns for the winter, while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV. But then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus ate all his acorns. And also he got a racecar. Is any of this getting through to you?”  FRY on FUTURAMA  Kudos to: Meredith Wayne-CoxReps/NY; Patrick Rieger/Burbank; Pat Brady-CESD/LA; Chip Beaman-Soundelux Design Music Group/Hollywood; Kelly Winger-Centennial College Children’s Entertainment Program/Toronto

Today’s Trivia Question:   Viewers only saw the right hand of this character, which in itself was quite expressive.  The hand was seen sifting mail, dialing the phone, lighting cigars, etc.  Who was this character?    (Email [email protected] with your answer and be sure to include your name, company, city and time zone. Unofficial rules: Only the second four correct answers from each time zone will be mentioned; and once you’ve been mentioned in any of the Cynopsis editions, you can’t be mentioned again that calendar week.)
