Miniclip.com and Univision Communications are partnering to launch a co-branded online gaming site created specifically for the US Hispanic market this month. The new site, Univision Juegos by Miniclip (http://univisionjuegos.miniclip.com/games/es/), will transport Miniclip’s library of 800+ games to Univision.com’s dedicated online user base. Miniclip features games targeted to various age groups including kids and tweens. Under the new pact, Miniclip will create and power all content for Univision Juegos by Miniclip.

Sesame Workshop appoints Click! Licensing Asia as its new licensing agent in China, where Sesame Street and Sesame Street’s Big Bird Looks at the World air daily on Haha and Toonmax. Under the deal Click! will manage all Sesame Street licensing and retail activities in the market. Click! has offices in key markets across Southeast Asia and Greater China.

Turner CN Enterprises (TCNE) signs new UK licensees for Cartoon Network‘s animated seriesAdventure TimeBioworld Europe signs on to produce a line of Adventure Time apparel and accessories (hoodies, t-shirts, socks, bags, among other accessories), with the first products debuting in spring/summer 2013, followed by a full collection in fall/winter 2013. Also in the apparel arena,Cooneen and Misirli will produce kid’s underwear and nightwear releasing in fall/winter 2013.Dreamtex inks a deal to produce Adventure Time themed bedding, towels and fleece blankets, also for fall/winter 2013. In the publishing category, Titan Publishing signs on for magazines, collections, and annuals, with the first issue of the magazine set to be available in August 2013. Pyramid International inks a deal to produce posters and a line of giftware (e.g. art prints, canvas prints, stickers, badges, magnets and postcards). Additionally, TCNE announces its first Adventure Time direct to retail partnership with sci-fi/fantasy retailer Forbidden Planet, which will produce gift and novelty products that will launch soon. This fall Jazwares launched its mater toy line for Adventure Time.

MARKETING

A new Moshi Monsters Happy Meal four-week holiday promotion debuts today at McDonald’s restaurants in North America. The promotion, which runs now through January 10, 2013, offers one of eight different Moshi Monsters character figures in each McDonald’s Happy Meal  while supplies last. The eight exclusives figures include Katsuma, Poppet, and Iggy, as well as Furi, Jeepers, Shishi and Luvli, as well as a new mystery Moshling that will be unveiled as part of the promotion. Additionally, each meal also comes with a free 3-day membership to www.moshimonsters.com . Moshi Monsters was created and is owned by Mind Candy.

Hasbro Studios, Hasbro’s LA-based entertainment division, inks a production deal with Malaysia-based Vision Animation and Australia’s Moody Street Kids to produce 26×30 new episodes of the second season of the animated series Rescue Bots. The new episodes of Rescue Bots will be collaboratively produced by Hasbro in the US, Vision in Malaysia and Moody Street in Australia. Pre-production on the new Rescue Bots episodes has begun with delivery slated for mid-2014. The Vision deal is significant to Malaysia, with Hasbro Studios becoming the first US company to strike a deal under the terms of Malaysia’s recently announced production Tax Incentive program. Part of the Transformers franchise, Rescue Bots airs in the US on The Hub TV Network, which is a joint venture between Hasbro and Discovery Communications, as well as on other networks around the world.

Nickelodeon will premiere the third season of its live-action mystery series House of Anubis with an hour-long episode on Thursday, January 3, at 8p. The new season will feature the return of popular characters as well as the introduction of some new ones, including KT – a sunny but obstinate American girl who will become a key member of the team, and Willow – a bright and quirky student from another boarding house. Fans can go to Nick.com to visit the House of Anubis page (www.nick.com/shows/house-of-anubis), where they can watch new trailers, interact via message boards, take quizzes, view photo galleries, learn about the show’s new characters and play new games beginning December 31. Nickelodeon debuts a new Nick News with Linda Ellerbee special titled If I Were An Only Child – The Top 10 Annoying Things My Siblings Do, on Monday, December 17, 2013 at 8p. The special features kids and celebrities, such as Seth Meyers, Donny & Marie Osmond, Mario Lopez, Tony Hawk and others, talking about life with their siblings and everything that comes with that.

Teletoon will host the Canadian broadcast TV premiere of the half-hour holiday specialDreamWorks Dragons: Gift of the Night Fury on Monday, December 17 at 7p. The special features a voice cast including Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, Craig Ferguson, America Ferrera, Jonah Hill, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Kristen Wiig. DreamWorks Dragons: Gift of the Night Fury is based on DreamWorks Animation’s movie How To Train Your Dragon and features Toothless, Hiccup, and the Dragons of Berk, who also star in the new animated series DreamWorks Dragons: Riders of Berk, which airs on Teletoon Thursdays at 6:30p.

Rainbow teams with Tsumanga Studios, a Scotland-based game developer/publisher, to develop a new girl 7-10 targeted virtual world game based on Winx Club. The game will initially be available in English, Italian, Russian and French and released for the current generation of mobile phones, tablets and web browsers. The first Winx app is slated for release in spring 2013 ahead of the full massively multiplayer virtual world is released in fall 2013. Created and produced by Rainbow, the Winx Club animated series is currently in its fifth season and is supported by a wide range of movies, DVDs, apparel, books, and video games.

Discovery Communications teams with Cupcake Digital to create a series of original Animal Planet-branded activity apps for preschoolers and kindergarteners. The first interactive app isAnimal Planet’s Hide & Seek Pets, which features images of household pets, and aims to engage younger kids in a story that features activities that help them learn more about each animal while also building their vocabulary skills through games, puzzles, tracing, sequencing and sorting activities. Designed to incorporate the new Common Core State Standards that will be adopted in 47 states in 2013-14 school year, the new apps will focus on the world of animals, species and habitats in new games that encourage learning. The apps will be available on Apple, Amazon, Google Play and Barnes and Noble platforms.
