Cynopsis: Kids!



Good morning. It’s Friday, August 13, 2010, and this is your first early morning Kids briefing.

Universal Sports will offer daily highlights of the first summer Youth Olympic Games (YOG), which are being held in Singapore beginning this week.  The channel will feature daily coverage of the games beginning August 15-27 at 2p of the new youth event, which includes 26 sports, with VOD highlights available via  Athletes competing in the YOG are between the ages of 14-18.  The first winter version of the YOG will be held as part of the 2012 London Olympic Games.  The YOG ( ) is governed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).


Super RTL (Germany), the joint Disney and RTL kid-targeted channel, picks up Fox’s Glee for its primetime block.  Glee will launch on the channel in January 2011.  Other programming Super RTL has acquired for its evening programming lineup includes Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story 2, Disney Channel’s Camp Rock 2, as well as Aardman’s Wallace & Gromit’s World of Inventions, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, BBC’s Merlin and the recent remake of Knight Rider.

Adult Swim will air the two Bleach anime movies, Bleach The Movie: Memories of Nobody and Bleach The Movie 2: The Diamond Dust Rebellion, this Saturday, August 14.


Sony Online Entertainment, in collaboration with Virtual Greats and Big Tent Entertainment, introduce Domo to Sony’s massively multiplayer online adventure game Free Realms ( ) this week.  Players will be able to explore the MMOG with a Domo pal and they will also be able to purchase virtual Domo items, including hats, backpacks, and slippers, among other things.  Free Realms extends its membership lifetime promotion through August 16.

ZhuZhu Pets will be star in a new video game this fall, with the release of ZhuZhu Pets: Featuring The Wild Bunch for Nintendo DS and Wii, from Activision Publishing and GameMill Publishing, in association with Cepia.  The Wii version of the game allows for multiplayer gaming.  The initial release of ZhuZhu Pets: Featuring The Wild Bunch will be offered as a Collector’s Edition with an exclusive chipmunk character, Nutters, for both systems.  More information about ZhuZhu Pets: Featuring The Wild Bunch will be available at (

Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products and Macy’s launch the new exclusive Glee apparel line at Macy’s stores this Sunday, August 15.  The Glee line will be featured in Macy’s with in-store series-centric “vignettes” and in storefront windows, all of which is supported by a marketing and online campaign.  Each vignette will include a JAGTAG promotion that will allow consumers to unlock unique mobile content.  From Awake, Inc., the apparel line features t-shirts, fashion tops and hoodies ($19.99-34.99).  Additionally, the line will launch through the juniors section on ( on September 14, where fans will also find Glee focused activities and content (e.g. trivia, behind-the-scenes video, wallpaper, photo galleries etc.).

Mattel’s Hot Wheels partners with JR Motorsports’ team driver Danica Patrick to introduce her Designed by Hot Wheels paint scheme that is featured on a NASCAR car at the Michigan International Speedway.  This weekend Patrick will be driving her #7 Chevrolet racecar with the custom Hot Wheels red and orange flames at the Carfax 250 race.  Additionally, Hot Wheels and Patrick also provided a sneak peek of the Keys To Speed national retail promotions that includes a TV campaign featuring Patrick launching this September 2010.  The promotion will see “Keys” included in various cars, playsets, which will provide fans with a chance to win a range of prizes.
