Bowling Center Television, the DOOH/CTV television network developed through a collaboration between Strike Ten Entertainment, the Bowling Proprietors’ Association of America, and Equity Sports Partners, has debuted in New York, Philadelphia, Charlotte and Tampa-St. Petersburg. The network has installations in 1,000 bowling centers located across the country, scaling to 13,000 screens. “BCTV is poised to boost business for our bowling centers and elevate the consumer experience for our patrons,” said John Harbuck, President of Strike Ten Entertainment. “This groundbreaking platform creates fresh, new avenues for engagement and promotion, and we look forward to witnessing the positive impact it will undoubtedly have on the bowling industry, catering to the tens of millions of bowlers who visit our centers each year.”

Seed Health, focused on microbiome science and probiotics – but not on marketing its products – launched a billboard in Times Square that promoted environmental activism. The An Ad for Earth creative showed wildlife video sourced by submission from the group’s @earth channel and community.

Canada’s Cineplex Digital Media inked a deal to operate a network of 200 digital displays in 18 Cadillac Fairview shopping centers. “As their trusted digital signage and media partner, with exclusivity to sell advertising in common spaces within CF’s malls, we will further support their goal of delivering world-class customer experiences with our innovative, data-led out of home solutions,” said Fab Stanghieri, EVP and Managing Director of Media, Cineplex.

UK-based 75Media has acquired IQ OOH, and will incorporate IQ’s 81 digital panels into its portfolio and all of its employees into its team. 75Media now has over 500 sites, making it the fastest-growing roadside network in the UK.

Big Brothers Sisters of America and Clear Channel Outdoor announced a nationwide DOOH campaign timed with National Mentoring Month featuring the “Game Changers” initiative, providing a platform for diverse groups to share their experiences and expertise on the power of mentorship. For the month of January, digital billboards are spotlighting leaders from the inaugural “Game Changers” group.

Executive Channel Network is expanding into Scotland, with an office in Edinburgh. “This expansion represents a significant milestone in our journey to redefine how businesses communicate in the digital age,” said Charles Parry-Okeden, Global CEO at Executive Channel Network. The company boasts 850 screens in offices in the UK, France and Germany.

As CPG marketers explore what experiences will engage grocery shoppers, an infographic from 84.51°, the retail data science, insights, and media company helping Kroger and its partners, reveals how customers would like to see those experiences evolve. What digital-out-of-home advancements do you see being most valuable to CPG marketers?

For retailers, it is about discovering the right balance between fun interactivity and static displays. We’ve begun inspiring shoppers through full-motion screens in some stores. Too much advertising creates noise, but a little inspiration to try something new can make shopping better.

New in-store audience signals are opening opportunities for dynamic messaging and better measurement. Our long-term vision is to bring accountable measurement to CPG marketers for their in-store media investments – with the same level of transparency and standards as online digital media.

Why do you think DOOH is valuable to this group of marketers?

In-store digital tactics combine the flexibility of digital media with the scale and relevancy of the in-store moment. In-store customers – like ecommerce shoppers – are actively building their baskets.

What do you predict will be the “next big thing” in shopper journeys?

A win for consumers is always the best long-term win for brands. We’ll see in-store and online media working together – and being measured together – to create a more seamless shopping experience.

Geopath welcomed 47 new members, a growth of 12% compared to 2022. “OOH continued to be an effective and reliable media channel in 2023, maintaining strong levels of spending despite a challenging advertising landscape,“ said Dylan Mabin, President at Geopath. “As more innovation takes place in OOH and advertisers increase their investment, the need for foundational and transparent OOH audience measurement will continue to grow.”

TRANSIT

Feeling lucky? The Minnesota Lottery partnered with OUTFRONT for a holiday campaign that ran in the Minnesota Skyway transit system. Their digital creative incorporated OUTFRONT’s QRAD technology, which enables audiences to change the creative seen on Liveboards in real time. The program could be seen at multiple touchpoints in the downtown skyway and Mall of America.
