PokerGO has unveiled the PokerGO Tour, the first ever global professional poker ranking system. It signifies a historic moment in the sport, with tens of millions of dollars at stake across 150 tournaments across the globe. The PokerGO Tour will mark the first time an official tour and ranking system of this magnitude has been seen in the poker industry, separating and celebrating the most elite professional poker players in a similar fashion to the ranking systems of the world’s most renowned professional sports.

Throughout the year players will earn points on every in-the-money finish at each PokerGO Tour qualifying event, and the top performer will be presented with the Player of the Year Award and a cash prize of $100,000. Cash prizes of $50,000 and $25,000 will also be awarded to the second and third place players, respectively.

The PokerGO Tour kicks off on June 3 with the 2021 U.S. Poker Open at the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas. The U.S. The 2021 U.S. Poker Open takes place June 3-June 14.

PROGRAMMING

NFL Network’s coverage of the 2021 NFL Draft kicks off Thursday, April 29 at 8p live from Cleveland. First round coverage will be provided by 2021 Sports Emmy nominee host Rich Eisen, draft expert Daniel Jeremiah, analyst Charles Davis, Stanford head coach David Shaw and others. Rounds 2 and 3 continue on Friday, April 30 at 7p, while Rounds 4-7 take place Saturday May 1 at 12p.

NBC Sports will present nearly 150 hours of live USGA championship coverage this season, beginning Saturday, May 8 with the Walker Cup from Seminole Golf Club in Juno Beach, FL. In total, it will feature live coverage of nine USGA events across NBC, GOLF Channel and Peacock. Highlights include the U.S. Open from Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego (June 17-20) and the U.S. Women’s Open from The Olympic Club in San Francisco (June 3-6). In addition to championship play, there will also be pre- and post-event coverage, special features and more.

In addition, NBC Sports announced the 2021 USATF “Journey to Gold – Tokyo Outdoor Series” broadcast schedule. It begins Saturday, April 24 at 3p with live coverage of the Drake Relays and the Oregon Relays on NBCSN and Peacock. Track and Field Pass content, which had previously required an NBC Sports Gold subscription, in now available on Peacock.

SportsCenter anchors Elle Duncan and Kevin Negandhi host Get Up, ESPN Radio NFL Draft broadcasts April 29-30. The show provides NFL Draft fans with key information, in-depth perspective and interviews during ESPN’s expansive coverage of the annual event.

MLB Network Showcase: Clubhouse Edition, debuts Sunday April 25 at 1p, featuring the New York Yankees versus the Cleveland Indians. CC Sabathia will join Carlos Pena, John Smoltz and Stephen Nelson for the new game telecast presentation featuring organic conversations among a group of former players, with Nelson guiding the call from a casual setup inside MLB Network’s Studio 21.

Univision will broadcast every match of the UEFA Champions League Semi-Finals as the top four European clubs battle it out for a spot in the May 29 final at Ataturk Olympic Stadium. The games begin with Real Madrid taking on Chelsea at the Estadio Afredo Di Stefano on April 27 at 2p.

The Pac-12 Men’s and Women’s Tennis Championships will be served up live from Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego on Monday, April 26 on Pac-12 Network. JB Long and Wimbledon champion Corina Marariu will be on the call for both finals, with the women’s beginning at 3p ET and the men’s following at 6p.

PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Canada extended its broadcast agreement with TSN for the 2021 and 2022 seasons. In 2021, TSN will deliver 32 weeks of PBR programming, bringing viewers highlight specials from both the PBR Canada Cup Series and PBR Unleash The Beast.

Kentucky native Jac Collinsworth will join NBC Sports’ 2021 Kentucky Derby coverage as a reporter on Saturday, May 1 at 2:30p on NBC. Collinsworth will report from locations throughout Churchill Downs on a variety of topics from the improbable Kentucky Derby qualifier Hot Rod Charlie to the food and fashion that make it one of the most anticipated sporting events of the year.

Subaru of America is bringing its established zero landfill techniques and knowledge to Subaru Park, home of the Philadelphia Unions. With sports stadiums generating a massive amount of trash that goes into environmentally harmful landfills, the merger will make Subaru Park the first zero landfill stadium in MLS.

DIGITAL, DATA & TECH

SLING TV has become the first live TV streaming service to integrate a DraftKings information channel on its platform. The move comes on the heels of the company’s agreement with DISH TV to integrate its apps into its Hopper platform. SLING TV subscribers and free users can now view real-time game scores and betting odds on the DraftKings Basketball channel. SLING TV will be launching DraftKings Baseball and DraftKings Hockey channels in the coming weeks.

Netflix is developing a docuseries following Bubba Wallace, NASCAR’s only Black full-time driver, as he competes for the 23XI Racing team. The untitled project, which is currently in production, will take viewers behind the scenes as it follows Wallace during the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series season.

NACE, NASEF and Skillshot Media will host and broadcast the Scholastic Esports Championship from April 23-25, a first integration of high school and collegiate esports nationally. All competitions and programming will be broadcast in partnership with Twitch Student on twitch.tv/skillshot.

Virtual charity gaming tournament Extra Life United Presented by DreamHack takes place April 23-25. The event allows gamers to compete in online tournaments to win donations for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Expert analysts and forecasters cite that worldwide esports market size, valued at USD $1.1. billion in 2019, is projected to reach USD 6.31 billion, a growth rate at 24.4%, over the forecast period 2020-2027. Vivid Seats is set to go public. The online marketplace, that facilitates transactions between fans wanting to buy or resell tickets to sports, concerts and theater events, is combining with special purpose acquisition company Horizon. Together their valuation is $1.95 billion, according to a press release.

Overtime has raised $80 million in a new funding round from backers including Bezos Expeditions, the entertainer Drake, Alexis Ohanian and some National Basketball Association players. The sports media startup, that produces sports-focused series and short-from content for streaming, claims its content attracts 1.5 billion views a month and has 40 million followers across its platforms.

Major League Soccer, through the League’s social responsibility platform MLS WORKS, will invest in restoration projects to help store carbon that would otherwise harm the planet. As part of MLS WORKS’ Greener Goals initiative, which identifies ways to reduce the League’s greenhouse gas footprint and raises awareness about environmental issues, MLS will invest in projects that mitigate the release of harmful CO2 emissions and creative constructive impacts in domestic and international communities. Joining forces with One Tree Planted, MLS and its clubs will also plant 27,000 trees in national forest across the US and Canada, marking the reforestation of up to 67 acres of land.
