CONTENT MEDIA

EXCLUSIVE: National Geographic Channel is debuting a batch of new web series, Reel Talk and Ultimate Survival Alaska: Seavey vs. Seavey, companions to TV shows Wicked Tuna and Ultimate Survival Alaska. Reel Talk is a live after-show that will air immediately following reality fishing series, Wicked Tuna, this Sunday at 9p. Fans of the show can ask questions with the hash tag #ReelTalk on its Facebookand Twitteraccounts. The spin-off web series of Ultimate Survival Guide will feature the show’s star, Dallas Seavey, competing in a dog sledding race against his two-time Iditarod champion dad, Mitch Seavey. All ten episodes will be release at once on Sunday on natgeotv.com/survivalalaska and NGC YouTube channel.

Netflix, Disney/ABC Television Group and Lucas Film Inc. announced that the sixth and final season of animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars will be available on the streaming site March 7. Along with the new 13-episode season, called The Lost Missions, Netflix will release all five seasons of the series, with several episodes including a director’s cut.

Bravo Media launched the first annual multi-platform Real Housewives Awards yesterday. Fans can visit bravotv.com/rhawards or the Bravo Now app to vote until March 21, and leading up to the ceremony, BravoTV.com will feature exclusive Real Housewives content. Andy Cohen will announce the first award on March 20 during a Real Housewives of New York City-hosted first look special, and reveal the rest on Watch What Happens Live! on March 23.

MOBILE GAMING + APPS

Rovio is giving its Angry Birds franchise a new female-focused spin-off with Angry Birds Stella. The female bird was first introduced in Angry Bird Seasons, and Rovio plans to bring the character to a new mobile game, series, toys and other retail products in the future.

SOCIAL MEDIA

Shareablee released the top winter TV premieres based upon social measurement of data across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Check out the results below as well as CEO’s Tania Yuki’s analysis:

“Although Facebook owned 95 percent of the 50 million social audience interactions during the January premieres, Instagram is becoming increasingly powerful with 77 percent growth in actions over comparable fall premieres. Instagram is also important for driving deeper audience engagement; when fans are present on both Instagram and Facebook, they’re 60 percent more likely to engage than if they are only on Facebook, which is what we see with Chicago PD, Black Sails and several other new programs last month. TV shows that incorporated tune-in messaging also saw 36% higher interactions around program air time, than those that did not fold in the concurrent TV experience.”

A train-safety animated campaign out of Melbourne, Australia called Dumb Ways to Die is back in time for today’s love fest, after racking up more than 71 million YouTube views more than a year ago. The ad, created by McCann Australia, follows up where an original blob left off (selling his kidneys on the internet) who thinks he must literally give his heart to another blob on Valentine’s Day.
