Late Show with David Letterman rings in the holidays one final time, when musician Darlene Love and actor Jay Thomas return for the annual holiday broadcast on Friday, December 19 at 11:35p on CBS. Love will perform her classic Christmas (Baby Please Come Home), marking the 21st time in 28 years she’s sung the song on the show. Thomas will participate in the show’s final holiday quarterback challenge, where he and Letterman take turns throwing footballs at the Late Show Christmas tree to try and knock off the giant meatball perched at the top.
TVLine reports that FOX series Gracepoint has been canceled. The mystery drama just wrapped its low-rated first season.
Netflix has acquired the rights to comedian Iliza Shlesinger‘s Freezing Hot. The one-hour stand-up special explores the universal struggles between men and women. It follows Shlesinger’s 2013 special, War Paint. Freezing Hot premieres on the streaming service on Friday, January 23.
Nat Geo WILD has entered into a licensing agreement with The Walt Disney Studios to bring viewers six Disney nature favorites, including Chimpanzee, Bears, Wings of Life, African Cats, Oceans, and The Crimson Wing: Mystery of The Flamingos; also from the Disney library will be Deep Blue. Chimpanzee premieres Sunday, January 11 at 8p. The remaining films will air throughout 2015.
Ovation TV has acquired the U.S. premiere rights to a documentary that follows Isabella Rossellini around the world as she prepares for and performs her one-woman show, Isabella Rossellini’s Green Porno Live! After making 38 short films in the Green Porno series, which focus on the mating and sexual habits of animals, insects and marine life exhibit, Rossellini took her comedic spin on the subject to the stage. Special debuts in the U.S. in spring 2015.
George Lopez is going to the dogs. The CW has announced that actor and comic will host the inaugural The World Dog Awards, premiering Thursday, January 15 at 8p. Filmed at the aptly- named Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, on January 10, the special combines the glamour of a Hollywood awards show with the appreciation for man’s best friend.
AMC released the key art for upcoming series Better Call Saul as well as the show’s new promo. From Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan and writer Peter Gould, the drama centers on the evolution of the popular Breaking Bad character Saul Goodman, portrayed by Bob Odenkirk, before he became Walter White’s lawyer. The series debuts with a two-night premiere event. The pilot airs Sunday, February 8 at 10 p, followed by episode two on Monday, February 9 at 10p. Check out the new promo here.
WE tv is developing the unscripted series The Real Women of Telenovelas. Set in Miami and produced by Matador, the show will follow a group of established and up-and-coming actresses and actors working in the genre. “The world of telenovelas has everything we look for in a WE tv show compelling characters, conflict, consequence and comic relief,” said WE tv president Marc Juris. “We could not be more excited about this project and bringing these beautiful women and their stories and highly-charged relationships to WE tv viewers.”
CBS is honoring 25-time Grammy Award winner Stevie Wonder with Stevie Wonder: Songs in the Key of Life – An All-Star Grammy Salute, featuring some of the biggest names in music performing songs written by Wonder. In addition, presenters will highlight the historical impact of his songs on music and culture. Special airs Monday, February 16 at 9p on CBS.
Cineflix’s two-hour documentary The Quest for Gold premieres Sunday, December 21 at 8p on National Geographic Channel. “This show uncovers the painstaking efforts we undertake to get our hands on the most prized precious metal, from the panhandlers of the Great California Gold Rush to today’s massive mines,” said Jacqueline Bynon, Executive Producer, Cineflix.
How did Egypt end up in the grips of an energy crisis? Al Jazeera America examines the story in the special investigative documentary Egypt’s Lost Power on Wednesday, December 17 at 10p. Journalist Clayton Swisher examines the decades of crooked deals that undermined the country’s energy sector and the tycoons who made billions from corrupt energy deals approved by the Egyptian state.
Jane Lynch (Glee and Hollywood Game Night) is set to host the DGA Awards for the second year in a row. The ceremony takes place Saturday, February 7 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles.

Esquire Network original documentary series Friday Night Tykes is back for its second season on Tuesday, January 20 at 9p. The show provides a glimpse into a Texas youth football league where winning means everything.
ABC‘s How to Get Away with Murder has snagged Oscar nominee and Emmy winner Cicely Tyson for a guest spot. She’ll appear in one episode when the drama returns on January 29 for the remaining six episodes of its first season. No details have been revealed on the character she’ll portray.
Dallas alum Patrick Duffy is joining ABC Family‘s The Fosters in a guest-starring role. He’ll play Robert Quinn Sr., Robert Quinn’s (Kerr Smith) domineering father in an episode to air in March. In addition, Dallas alum Marlene Forte and Ugly Betty‘s Tony Plana will appear in a pair of March episodes. They’ll play two newly discovered relatives to the Adams-Foster family.
Christina Hendricks has been tapped to star in the Showtime pilot Roadies, which follows
the day-to-day life of a successful rock tour, seen through the eyes of the crew members. She’ll portray Shelli, the band’s production manager.
Tanner Stine (Haunted Hathaways, The Thundermans) heads to CBS‘ NCIS for a special flashback episode. He’ll play Agent Tony DiNozzo during his teenage years, as he attendsa military preparatory academy.
Arielle Kebbel (Vampire Diaries) has booked a recurring role on the upcoming HBO series Ballers. The sports comedy stars Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and examines the lives of a group of former and current football players.
