James Corden has a team. CBS announced the Late Late Show host and exec producer Ben Winston will be joined by exec producer Rob Crabbe (The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon), co-exec producer and head writer Mike Gibbons (Tosh.0), supervising producer Sheila Rogers (Late Show with David Letterman) and producer Josie Cliff (One Night with Robbie Williams). The late-nighter’s first time house band will be led by Reggie Watts. Production office opens January 5, ahead of the show’s premiere Monday, March 23, two weeks later than previously announced.
American Idol is following in the footsteps of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars by airing one night a week for part of its run, said host Ryan Seacrest on Friday. “We are going to do the performance show and the results in the same show,” Seacrest told reporters at the Jingle Ball Concert. “We are going to put it all into one format in one night,” starting around the Top 10 rounds. Season 14 of the singing competition launches on Fox Wednesday, January 7 at 8p.
Is Charlie Sheen making an appearance on the February 19 series finale of CBS’s Two and a Half Men? Asked on Friday’s The Ellen DeGeneres Show if the prodigal son was returning, Sheen’s replacement, Ashton Kutcher, didn’t say yes – but it wasn’t a firm no, either. "If you’re working on the Warner Bros. lot, if there’s sirens, come save me," teased Kutcher of the finale. Would such a cameo make you watch the show? Vote in our poll.
NBC announced its midseason sked, and on Thursday, it’s all about drama. Starting February 5, new event series The Slap kicks off the night at 8p, followed by The Blacklist at 9p and freshman spy drama Allegiance at 10p. Summer hit Undateable returns Tuesday, March 17, along with new comedy One Big Happy, following The Voice; Marry Me and About a Boy are on hold. The singing competition also serves as lead-in to Monday medical drama The Night Shift starting February 23.
Fox News correspondent Dominic Di-Natale was found dead December 11 at age 43, in Jefferson County, CO. The cause was suicide, according to the local coroner. “We were extremely saddened to learn of Dominic’s passing,” said Fox News. “He was an esteemed journalist and an integral part of our news coverage of the Middle East.”
Hearst acquired a 25 percent interest in multi-platform media company AwesomenessTV, with plans to give AwesomenessTV access to its subscription VOD technology. “Few companies have built the global audience of millennial females as quickly as AwesomenessTV,” said Hearst Corporation president and CEO Steven R. Swartz. “For us, it’s very important to make a bet on the future of how content is created. Together, in partnership with DreamWorks, we see great opportunity in supporting the consumer media franchise that AwesomenessTV continues to build.”

A planted Criminal Minds spinoff is slated for 2015, written by the CBS procedural’s showrunner, Erica Messer and focusing on FBI agents helping citizens in hot water abroad. In its tenth season, Criminal Minds is averaging a healthy 3.9 rating among A18-49 and 14.6 million viewers.
FX Networks ordered a comedy pilot from actor/writer Donald Glover (30 Rock). Glover will star in and exec produce Atlanta, about cousins in the Atlanta rap scene, with Paul Simms (Girls) and Dianne McGunigle also exec producing.
USA is developing alien drama The Terrestrial, from writer Gary Dauberman (Annabelle). The Fox 21 Television Studios/Fabrik project focuses on a man who fears his missing daughter was abducted by aliens.
NBC miniseries A.D., a 12-episode sequel to Mark Burnett and Roma Downey smash The Bible, launches Easter Sunday, April 5 at 9p. The premiere of action drama Odyssey follows at 10p.
You can’t escape sex on Saturday nights – at least not on TLC. Weekly late night talk show All About Sex debuts January 10 at 11p, following the net’s Sex Sent Me to the ER. Comedian Margeret Cho, Heather McDonald (Chelsea Lately), Marissa Jaret Winokur (Hairspray) and relationship expert Dr. Tiffanie Davis Henry talk sex and love.
Opera star Renee Fleming hosts PBS’s American Voices, a performance documentary premiering Friday, January 9 at 9p (check local listings) on Great Performances. Special covering the Kennedy Center’s American Voices festival was produced by RadicalMedia.
USA’s “WWE Week” kicks off tonight with a special episode of Monday Night Raw from 8p-11p, and wraps Sunday, December 21 at 8p with Jingle All the Way 2, featuring WWE star Santino Marella.
Those crazy kids. CMT’s Party Down South: Christmas Hangover premieres Thursday, December 18 at 8p, offering “off-the-wall redneck traditions.” One-hour special is part of the net’s “Thirsty Thursday” night of programming.
Lady Antebellum has been booked to perform at the People’s Choice Awards, airing live Wednesday, January 7 at 9p on CBS. Tickets to the show at LA’s Nokia Theater are on sale at AXS.com.
El Rey’s “Season’s Beatings” Lucha Underground marathon includes eight episodes of the wrestling series, starting Wednesday, December 31 at 4p. After the ball drops on January 1, the net launches a Miami Vice marathon.
Showtime released a trailer for Kobe Bryant’s Muse. Feature-length doc showing a side of the NBA star “the public has never seen before” is slated for a February debut.
Nat Geo WILD hosts a roast of the animal world in Total Riff Raff, with RiffTrax, stars of Mystery Science Theater 3000, offering their off-kilter take on the likes of demon bats and flesh-eating fish. Special premieres Tuesday, December 16 at 8p.
Esquire’s How to Make a Man premieres Saturday, December 20 at 10:30p. The 30-minute special chronicling the birth of Esquire’s “The Mentoring Project,” emphasizing the importance of mentoring young men, includes interviews with Kevin Bacon, Samuel Jackson, Jimmy Kimmel and General David Petraeus, among others.
Ford’s third annual trend report, “Further with Ford 2015,” took a look at the 2 billion or so youth in Generation Z (aka GenEdge). Take note, lifestyle nets: it’s a foodie generation. And they’re not sitting still. “Raised in an on-demand, impatient culture, Gen Z’s mantra is ‘good things come to those who act,’” says the study.

NBC’s canceled Bad Judge got a 22 percent week-to-week ratings boost Thursday, to a 1.1 rating among A18-49, according to Nielsen, enough to match lead-in The Biggest Loser.
Up against an original episode of CBS’s The Big Bang Theory versus last week’s repeat, the winter finale of Fox’s Bones was down 20 percent, to 1.2/4. The competition didn’t hurt the winter finale of CW’s Vampire Diaries, up two tenths for the week, to .9/3.
CBS’s Mom matched its series-best A18-49 rating (2.6/8) on Thursday, and Elementary had its best total viewer (7.62 million) and A18-49 (1.4/4) deliveries of the season.
Thursday A18-49 Analysis: CBS won the most A18-49 viewers Thursday with 2.2/7, according to Nielsen. CBS was first at 8p with an average 3.3/11 for Big Bang Theory and Mom, followed by 1.3/4 for Univision’s Mi Corazon Es Tuyo. CBS’s Two and a Half Men and The McCarthys averaged 2.0/6 to win 9p, versus 1.2/4 for Uni’s Hasta Fin del Mundo. CBS’s Elementary topped 10p with 1.4/4; Telemundo scored second with 1.2/4 for Liga MX.
