It has been a solid few days of news at the Baseball Winter Meetings in San Diego, especially on the league side. The latest came Tuesday when MLB Network announced that longtime baseball executive and current network EVP Rob McGlarry was named president of MLB Network, reporting to MLB President of Business and Media Bob Bowman effective immediately. McGlarry succeeds Tony Petitti in the role, following Petitti’s appointment as Chief Operating Officer of Major League Baseball.

Multi-platinum recording artists and two-time CMA Vocal Duo of the Year winners Florida Georgia Line will join WWE Superstars and Divas to honor the United States Armed Forces with the 12th annual WWE holiday special, Tribute to the Troops, which will air on USA Network as a part of “WWE WEEK” on Wednesday, December 17, from 8-10pm ET, and will re-air as a one-hour special on NBC on Saturday, December 27, from 8-9pm ET.
Roc Nation Sports and FOX Sports have reached an agreement on a three-event boxing package, the first ever presented by the promoter, under the throne boxing banner. The first event is scheduled for Friday, January 9, 2015 and airs on FOX Sports 1, live from The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City (10:00 PM ET/7:00PM PT).

PIX11 (Tribune Broadcasting’s New York flagship station), Barclays Center, the Brooklyn Nets and the New York Islanders announced a multi-year exclusive marketing partnership. The Alliance. As part of the collaboration, PIX11 will create a street-level, in-arena studio at Barclays Center looking onto Flatbush Avenue, which will serve as a Brooklyn-based hub for its news broadcasts. PIX11 will also partner with Brooklyn Nets Assist, the community outreach arm of the Nets organization, to amplify awareness of the team’s community activities.
