Barry Diller’s IAC is putting its majority stake in CollegeHumor up for sale. Fortune reports that IAC is looking to sell for $100 million, after investing $20 million in the site in 2006. Other comedy destinations, such as Funny or Die and The Onion, are also on the market, with FOD asking between $100-$300 million and The Onion askling for $100 million. So why the sudden surge of humor sites seeking a buyer? Disney’s deal with Maker Studios. “They’re all trying to figure out why Disney did that and what copycat transactions are credible alternatives,” a banker told Fortune. CH also owns Dorkly.com and WatchLoud.com, and has more than 8.5 million subscribers on its YouTube channel.

Defy Media premiered the new series Super Fan Builds, a show about the team behind the series Man at Arms and Man at Arms: Reforged on the AWE Me Channel (2.5 million subscribers and 120 million videos views). Presented by Break, the series follows the team of craftsmen from Tim Baker Creations that create custom props for “super fans” and their favorite film or video game culture icon. In the first episode, the team builds a backyard Groot swing set for a father and son Guardians of the Galaxy super fan duo.

Watson Pictures and Full Circle Films released the film Warren exclusively on Vimeo yesterday. The flick stars Alex Beh (the film’s creator), Sarah Habel (Whip It), John Heard (Sharknado), Jean Smart (Designing Women), Andrew Santino (Mixology), Joseph A. Nunez (Superbad), Austin Stowell (Whiplash) and producers include Mark Hannah, Dallas Sonnier, and Jack Heller (Bone Tomahawk, Enter Nowhere). Warren is currently available at Vimeo on Demand, and will be released on iTunes, Amazon and Google Play afterwards.

“Should advertisers be investing in a full array of new digital media options? Absolutely,” CBS’ Chief Research Officer David Poltrack said at UBS’ 42nd Annual Global and Media Communications Conference yesterday. “Should they be funding these investments from their TV advertising budgets? Absolutely not.” Poltrack suggested that while TV ad spend will fall flat in the first half of 2015, shifting budgets completely to digital won’t bring larger campaign reach or increase sales. For instance, Poltrack pointed to CBS’ move to syndicate programming on streaming services like Netflix as another way to promote the network’s original programming on various platforms, which contributes to the bottom line in the end. “You’d prefer [Netflix viewers] watch only episodes of your shows to new episodes of someone else…they’re a valued partner as well as a competitor,” Poltrack said.
MOBILE ADVERTISING
Infolinks announced the launch of its first mobile ad unit, called InFold. Partnered brands such as Lending Tree, Pizza Hut and Microsoft reported InFold mobile and tablet ads drives 150 percent more lead volume, compared to standard Desktop/Laptop ads; they’ve also received more than 2 billion mobile ad views.
AD PLATFORMS
EngageClick launched a new Consumer Personalization Platform that uses data driven technology and cognitive science to track customer data in real-time across mobile devices and smart TVs. “Imagine walking past a garden center and receiving a mobile ad for $1 off hummingbird nectar for the feeder you bought recently,” EngageClick co-founder Shekhar Deo said. “That’s where marketing is going – much more personal and more connected.”
