Nielsen will showcase its newest advancement, Nielsen ONE Alpha deduplicated ad measurement, at CES next month. Alpha is the first iteration of Nielsen ONE, set to launch in 4Q22. Nielsen ONE Alpha will be specific to ad campaigns, an across-platform measurement system that offers both comparability and audience deduplication across all screens. Disney and MAGNA have joined several agencies, advertisers and publishers as Nielsen ONE Alpha participants from both the buy and sell sides of the industry.

BIA upped its 2022 US Local Advertising Forecast from $161.5 billion to $173.3 billion. “We’ve taken pandemic concerns plus inflation and supply chain issues into account to prepare our local media estimates and, overall, we are bullish on ad revenue for 2022,” said Mark Fratrik, BIA’s SVP and chief economist.

The NHL has postponed games, SNL sent its audience home and Davos has gone virtual due to the Covid surge, but the Critics Choice Awards are still scheduled as an in-person event for January 9 – at least so far. “The Critics Choice Association is working with LA County Public Health Officials and a premier Covid Compliance service, and at this time, we are currently still planning to host an in-person 27th Annual Critics Choice Awards, following the strictest and safest protocols, including mandatory proof of vaccination, negative PCR tests 48 hours in advance, proper social distancing and masking requirements,” said a statement from the CAA. “We will continue to carefully monitor the situation as events progress.” The show will be televised on The CW and TBS.

On the other hand, The Realscreen Summit, scheduled to take place in Austin January 25 and 28, has been postponed until June and relocated to Dana Point, CA. “This difficult decision has been reached after serious consideration of the growing impact of the Omicron variant on the ability of the industry to meet at this time,” said a note sent to attendees of the non-fiction TV event.

Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis and Sarah Jessica Parker issued a joint statement addressing the multiple accusations of sexual assault leveled against their “And Just Like That…” co-star, Chris Noth.We support the women who have come forward and shared their painful experiences,” said the actresses. “We know it must be a very difficult thing to do and we commend them for it.” Noth, who has vehemently denied the allegations, has been dropped from CBS drama “The Equalizer,” and Peloton has stopped running an ad featuring him.

Amid a surge of Covid-19 cases, Fox Corporation is requiring employees working in NYC to show proof of at least one vaccine by December 27, in keeping with the city’s mandate. Previously, Fox employees had the option of testing weekly. The company said more than 90% of its employees are vaccinated.

JetBlue is making travel a little easier for some parents by featuring Kartoon Channel content in-flight, starting next month. Programs include “Stan Lee’s Superhero Kindergarten,” “Rainbow Rangers” and “KC! Pop Quiz.”

“It’s A Wonderful Life”, celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, still dominates in terms of viewing for holiday movies on linear TV. According to an analysis from LG Ads, the classic is by far the most popular Christmas movie telecast, nearly doubling other movies shown on Christmas Eve 2020. Who’s waiting for that angel to get his wings? Seventy-five percent of viewers are heavy linear viewers, and the show skews heavily to viewers in the Midwest. This year, the movie will air on NBC as well as run for 24 hours on E! starting Christmas Eve.

AT&T has agreed to sell its programmatic advertising marketplace, Xandr, to Microsoft. “Microsoft’s shared vision of empowering a free and open web and championing an open industry alternative via a global advertising marketplace makes it a great fit for Xandr,” said Mike Welch, EVP and GM of Xandr.
