Netflix will exclusively debut an hour-long comedy special from Doug Benson called Doug Dynasty, on Nov. 6. In the show, Benson tells stories about outsmarting the TSA and awkward conversations with cat-people at parties while responding to real-time tweets from the audience. Netflix will continue to roll out its comedy lineup this month with specials from Bill Cosby, Jim Jefferies, Bill Burr, Chelsea Peretti and Chelsea Handler.
Amazon acquisition Twitch expanded its payment options with Xsolla. The original agreement enabled users to choose among several billing alternatives for the premium Twitch Turbo service. Now that flexibility can be applied to specific channel subs as well. While some channels on the game-streaming site are free, others require a $4.99 subscription. Amazon purchased Twitch in August for $970 million.
Legendary Entertainment announced that it’s turning the game Myst into a series. Variety reports it’s still unclear whether it will be a TV show or a digital series. Myst first debuted in 1993, and has since sold more than 15 million copies.
Al Jazeera America’s investigative documentary series Fault Lines will return for a fifth season with new episodes starting Oct. 18. The premiere ep Iraq Divided: The Fight against ISIL will broadcast at 7p ET and debut online as well.
With Halloween approaching, movie streaming service Popcornflix and FrightPix will offer “obscure” horror titles, like Aaah! Zombies, Bloodsucking Freaks and Asian horror films. Both services are available on Roku, Apple and Android devices along with connected TVs.

Facebook took a major leap with its mobile ad network yesterday, opening its Audience Network to all media buyers and planners. Ad Age reports FB’s ad business could put pressure on Google, which ranks just above the social network in mobile ad revenue in 2014, and Yahoo if FB’s prices win over app developers and advertisers. 3Q Digital’s Senior Director of Social Dayna Moon commented on the news: “It’s a smart move leading up to Facebook’s earnings call; however, the amount of traffic and publishers is still minimal in comparison to larger networks. I think the key factor is whether Facebook can roll out the advanced targeting features that we as marketers have grown to love about Facebook. That, combined with the ‘natural’ or native social context of the platform, is a great recipe just waiting to be baked.”

AOL tapped Dermot McCormack as the new President of Video and Studios. McCormack succeeds Ran Harnevo who will continue as Executive Producer of AOL’s first long-form original series, called Connected. McCormack was most recently Viacom’s Head of Music and Logo’s Connect Content Group. “AOL today has the largest global curated video network, a programmatic video platform that is the future of advertising, and a strong content creation strategy that has already received two Emmy nominations,” Harnevo said. “Dermot is the right person to lead AOL On forward and it’s time for me to return to my entrepreneurial roots.”
DWA hired Matthew Yorke as the company’s President, Global Innovation and CMO. Prior to DWA, Yorke was most recently the CEO of IDG Enterprise.
YuMe opened its Mexican headquarters in Mexico City, to bring the firm to 18 offices in 13 countries. “eMarketer’s June 2014 report on digital ad spending growth pins average growth for Latin America at 28.5 percent, but growth for Mexico alone is 35.3 percent, making it an obvious entry point to the region,” Vice President, Emerging Markets Jorg Nowak said.
