Good morning. It’s Thursday September 27, 2018 and this is your first early morning Sports briefing.

Tonight sees the debut of the NFL’s Thursday Night Football, Presented by Bud Light on FOX, with FOX Sports opening the doors to its new “Now It’s a Game” campaign, which “celebrates a schedule full of marquee NFL matchups.” The campaign is comprised of an introductory “anthem” and six individual key matchup spots, directed by award-winning filmmaker Craig Gillespie and featuring NFL stars Jared Goff, Ndamukong Suh and Saquon Barkley along with FOX Sports’ broadcaster Joe Buck and Pro Football Hall of Fame colleagues Troy Aikman, Michael Strahan, Terry Bradshaw and Howie Long..  
 
“Football is in FOX Sports’ DNA, and the premiere of Thursday Night Football on our network is a big moment in our brand’s evolution,” said Robert Gottlieb, Executive Vice President and Head of Marketing, FOX Sports. “This is year one of the broadcast on FOX, and we wanted a campaign that was distinctive to our voice, but also true to what we plan to deliver to NFL fans as the network home of this franchise.”
 
 
ON THE AIR

Lacrosse star Paul Rabil is launching a new outdoor league anchored by a group of sports and media investors led by the Raine Group, according to Bloomberg. The six-team Premier Lacrosse League would begin play next summer, according to the report, and has secured the participation of a number of well-known players, including those on Team USA and Canada. Players would be full-time employees, receive health benefits and get an undisclosed equity stake in the league. The PLL would also implement a tour-based model whereby teams will travel to a particular city at the same time and play a series of games on Saturday and Sunday.
 
NBC Sports serves up the first Top 10 clash at Notre Dame Stadium in 13 years, when the Fighting Irish host Stanford on Saturday at 7:30p on NBC. Coverage is part of NBC’s upcoming “Big Event Weekend,” which features Tiger Woods and the U.S. taking on Europe at the 42nd Ryder Cup; the season premiere of Saturday Night Live; the Monster Energy NASCAR Playoffs from Charlotte and an AFC North rivalry battle between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football.
 
Around the dial, ABC’s Saturday Night Football will feature another battle of Top 10 teams with Ohio State/Penn State at 7:30p. Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit and Maria Taylor will be in Beaver Stadium for the call of the game. College GameDay Built by The Home Depot will be in State College on Saturday morning.
 
Fourteen finalists will present their innovative driver concepts with the hopes of ultimately becoming Wilson Golf’s next world-class driver on the season premiere of Driver vs. Driver 2 presented by Wilson on Tuesday at 9p on Golf Channel. The seven-episode series will air Tuesdays this fall, concluding Nov. 13, where the winner will be awarded a grand prize of $250,000 in cash and a Wilson staff driver inspired by their concept hitting retail stores worldwide the following day.
 
Telemundo Deportes premieres a new installation of Que Momento on September 29 at 2:30p. The new episode will take an in-depth look at the story of how France took home the 2018 FIFA World Cup. This new episode includes the analytical view of the three Hispanic rivals that faced France in the 2018 World Cup: Peru, Argentina and Uruguay.

DAZN and Bellator announced talent for Bellator 206: Mousasi vs. MacDonald, the inaugural exclusive Bellator event on DAZN. Coming out of the SAP Center in San Jose on Saturday, Bellator 206 will feature Mauro Ranallo and “Big” John McCarthy calling all the action cageside. Jay Glazer will host the desk with expert commentary and analysis from Chael Sonnen and Josh Thomson. Mike Goldberg and Jenn Brown will provide behind-the-scenes updates and breaking news as roving reporters throughout the night. Veteran announcer Michael C. Williams will serve in his customary role as in-cage announcer.   
 
Karate Combat: One World streams live from the top of the World Trade Center in NYC at 7p as 20 fighters from 13 countries compete with full-contact rules. Bas Rutten and Sean Wheelock call the shots. The event marks the first ever sporting event up at the location and a record for the highest ever from ground level, streaming live on Facebook for the first time as well as on karate.com and via partners UFC Fight Pass, CBS Sports Live, DailyMotion, CombatGO, FITE, Pluto TV, Eleven Sports, Klowd TV, The Fight Network and YouTube.
