Crackle series Sports Jeopardy! with Dan Patrick will premiere Sept. 24. Hosted by Emmy-winning sportscaster Dan Patrick, the weekly 30-minute program takes on the format of the iconic quiz show. More than 30,000 contestants registered to audition for the series over the summer.

Disappearing message and photo app SnapChat will start sending out movie and TV clips, ads and news articles this November. The Wall Street Journal reports advertisers and media companies are discussing providing content for a new service called SnapChat Discovery – users will be able to read clips or watch videos by holding a finger on the screen, as they do now for photos and messages on the app, before they vanish.
 
Netflix added Time Warner Cable to the list of cable firms it’s paying to bring more consistent, better quality streams of shows to its subscribers. TWC joins Comcast, Verizon and AT+T in similar streaming deals. Netflix has called ISP interconnection fees an arbitrary tax on websites, but says it will “reluctantly” pay up to provide its customers with the streaming quality they need. 
 
Indie digital film and TV distributor The Orchard is partnering with the 10th annual New York Television Festival, guaranteeing a six-episode web series as a prize. The series will be co-produced by Orchard and the Festival. This the second guaranteed series from a NYTV development partner, after the announcement of a Travel Channel/ulive digital series in May. The Orchard knows how to pick a winner, recently acquiring the Sundance Grand Jury Documentary Prize Winner Rich Hill and Tribeca Film Festival Grand Jury Documentary Prize Winner Point and Shoot.
 
Former Legendary Entertainment President of Digital Content and Distribution, Tom Lesinki, launched a new digital and TV platform called Energi Entertainment. Lesinki will continue his affiliation with Legendary with his company’s first development and production multi-year deal.
 
Network A
debuted Los Angeles skater series, Skate and the City, yesterday. The three installments include Terry Kennedy, Kevin Romar, Kid Ink and others skating through LA hotspots with musicians, artists and designers associated with skateboarding.

Animation focused multi-channel Channel Frederator Network announced it added more than 200 channels in June and July, and boosted its subscriber base to 9.5 million. Frederator is known for its flagship channel Cartoon Hangover, which boasts more than 120 million views and 1.3 million subs.

MOBILE GAMING + APPS
 

Verizon is taking a page out of Google’s playbook, launching its own app store to compete with Google Play and Android devices. The Verge reports the carrier will use social, location and time of day indicators to recommend apps to its users. Verizon had an app store for BlackBerry and Android smartphones, but shut it down in January 2013. Sprint also rolled out an app store, called App Pass, with a subscription service that offers Google Play apps for a monthly fee.

TubeMogul and Integral Ad Science have teamed to provide viewability measurement and anti-fraud verification for TubeMogul’s clients. “Integral was a natural partner for us because their video-specific solution ensures that ads are not only viewable, but appear in an environment that’s favorable to advertisers,” said TubeMogul’s Chief Strategy Officer Jason Lopatecki.
