Charlie Yook is taking the reins at NFL Media, where he was named Executive Producer and will be responsible for overseeing content produced by the NFL Media Group based in Los Angeles, which includes NFL Network and the NFL’s digital properties. Additionally, Yook is responsible for managing the production of NFL Network’s studio and on-location event programming. “We are incredibly excited for Charlie as he takes this next step in his career,” said Quenzel. “Throughout the years, Charlie has consistently proven to be a dynamic producer and hands on leader with an incredible attention to detail and an inspired ability to connect teams, departments and platforms to produce amazing content. We are eager to see what this next chapter for the NFL Media Group brings under his leadership.”


CBS Sports announced that Matteo Bonetti will serve as the Network’s lead Serie A analyst and match commentator, providing both studio and match analysis throughout the season, while Andres Cordero will serve as lead play-by-play announcer for coverage across CBS Sports Network and Paramount+. Bonetti and Cordero will call matches on a weekly basis beginning Sept. 12. Bonetti, Jo Ankier, Marco Messina and Fabrizio Romano will contribute to CBS Sports HQ’s pregame, halftime and postgame studio coverage from Stamford.

In other talent news, Showtime has its talent roster set for the SHOWTIME PPV event headlined by Jake Paul vs. Tyron Woodley on Aug. 29 at 8p. Brian Custer will host the telecast with special guest commentators Logan Paul and and AJ McKee. Mauro Ranallo and Al Bernstein will call the action at ringside. Ariel Helwani will serve as a special guest analyst at ringside and handle in-ring post-fight interviews. In addition, Barstool Sports President Dave “El Presidente” Portnoy and Dan “Big Cat” Katz will join the team as part of a unique and fully integrated sponsorship from Barstool Sportsbook, the official sports betting partner of the event. Barstool Sportsbook will also have a branded desk on the set in the arena and Barstool’s two most popular personalities Portnoy and Big Cat will host sports betting segments throughout the telecast

Ahead of Women’s Worlds today, NHL Network will debut a feature, narrated by Tony Luftman, on former and incoming University of Wisconsin Women’s Hockey players Abby Roque and Caroline Harvey. In addition to these pieces, NHL Network will also air one on the team’s disappointment with the 2020 tournament being cancelled, and their excitement for this year’s games.

Netflix and UFC announced a collaboration on branded content in conjunction with the upcoming Netflix feature film “Sweet Girl,” starring Jason Momoa and Isabela Merced. The film, which is scheduled for release globally on Netflix today, features Momoa as “a devastated husband who vows to bring justice to the people responsible for his wife’s death while protecting the only family he has left, his daughter (Merced).” UFC and Netflix have teamed up to produce a short-form video that demonstrates youth self-defense techniques. The video, entitled “How to Fight Like a Sweet Girl” was produced at a recent youth self-defense seminar at UFC GYM in Huntington Beach.

The ESPN College Football Podcast is expanding for the 2021 season with five new episodes every week available Monday-Friday mornings beginning Aug. 30. Returning hosts Kirk Herbstreit, Kevin Negandhi and David Pollack will be joined by voices that include Matt Barrie, Rece Davis, Paul Finebaum, Joey Galloway and Booger McFarland as well as regular appearances from additional ESPN analysts and reporters.

Tennis Channel’s international expansion continues with the launch of its Tennis Channel subscription streaming service in the U.K. yesterday as well as the introduction of the Tennis Channel International ad-supported streaming channel on Samsung TV Plus in India on Aug. 25. Tennis Channel launched its direct-to-consumer streaming platform in May 2020, which is also available in Austria, Germany, Greece and Switzerland.

Boeing signed on to a three-year agreement to become the title sponsor of ESPN Events’ inaugural Red Tails Classic college football kickoff game which celebrates Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and honors the Tuskegee Airmen who fought in World War II. The inaugural game will feature Tuskegee University vs. Fort Valley State University on Sept. 5, at the historic Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, Ala. Kickoff is set for 7p on ESPNU. “Boeing is pleased to pay tribute to the Tuskegee Airmen and celebrate the contributions of HBCU graduates by sponsoring ESPN Events’ inaugural Red Tails Classic,” said Ted Colbert, president and CEO of Boeing Global Services. “As a proud HBCU graduate, I am gratified by Boeing’s dedicated efforts to advance a more equitable future for our employees and our communities.”

FanDuel Group hooked an exclusive, multi-year partnership with Jordan Spieth. This new partnership designates FanDuel, an official sports betting partner of the PGA TOUR, as the exclusive sports betting and daily fantasy provider for the golfer. As part of the relationship, Spieth will be featured in national television commercials and will be the face of FanDuel’s golf products. Spieth will work with FanDuel on content for social media and responsible gaming initiatives. FanDuel will also support the Jordan Spieth Family Foundation to continue its great work in the community.

Bridgestone Americas is fueling a new initiative with its Team Bridgestone athlete ambassadors to drive the company’s commitment to promoting diversity and creating more inclusive communities. Weedmaps inked multi-year agreement with Kevin Durant and as well as a sponsorship deal with Boardroom designed to “deconstruct the negative stereotypes associated with cannabis while elevating the conversation around the plant’s potential for athlete wellness and recovery.” Weedmaps will become an official sponsor of Thirty Five Ventures’ sports business media network, , as part of the agreement.

Bud Light unveiled the 2021-2022 NFL team-specific cans and packaging ahead of the new season. This year’s designs are draped in “personalized team rally cries to help bring fans together to root their favorite team on, no matter where they are.” The NFL themed Bud Light packaging will be available for fans to purchase in participating cities for a limited-time only beginning Aug. 23. In addition, Bud Light is teaming up with the reigning Super Bowl Champions – The Tampa Bay Buccaneers – to produce a “Welcome Mat” for the first NFL game of the season that measures over 71 yards in-length.

The PGA TOUR and Grupo Puntacana, which owns and operates Puntacana Resort & Club in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, announced a four-year extension for the Corales Puntacana Championship, the first-ever PGA TOUR event in the Dominican Republic. With the deal, the event has been renamed the Corales Puntacana Championship starting with the 2022 playing from March 21-27 with live broadcast coverage on Golf Channel.


The PGA TOUR announced a “first-of-its-kind” augmented reality experience on mobile devices for fans attending the three FedExCup Playoff events from through Sept, 5. Powered by Quintar’s Q.reality live sports and entertainment AR platform, the PGA TOUR AR app for iPhone is made exclusively for fans attending any of the rounds at THE NORTHERN TRUST, BMW Championship and the TOUR Championship. The app’s live and fan controlled replay experience will feature AR tee-shot trails with apex indicator, ball and player indicator cards, distance to pin measurements, and interactive 3D models of the greens displaying topography so fans can spin around each shot to see the different angles and the challenge each player faces with every putt. Fans can capture the AR blended action and share with their friends on social.

Yahoo Sports announced a partnership with Los Angeles Chargers running back, fantasy star, and Gridiron Gaming Group founder Austin Ekeler. Ekeler will join Yahoo Sports as a fantasy football analyst, creating new and unique fantasy football programming for Yahoo Sports, starting in weekly fantasy show titled “Ekeler’s Edge.” The show will debut later this month. Yahoo Sports and Ekeler will also host live conversations throughout the season to answer fan questions that will co-stream across Yahoo Sports as well as its associated social platforms including TikTok, and Ekeler’s channels.

Buzzer, the new mobile platform for personalization and discovery of live sports, announced a new agreement with the WNBA to distribute live game content, making the WNBA the first women’s professional sports league to be offered on the platform. Beginning Aug. 25, Buzzer will offer access to WNBA League Pass, the WNBA’s premium live out-of-market game subscription service, allowing mobile-first fans to discover and access live games.

Sportradar and FanDuel Group announced an extension of their existing partnership, which makes Sportradar the chosen data or odds supplier for US sports to FanDuel Group through 2028. “With FanDuel being the leading US sportsbook, this deal further underscores Sportradar’s position as the data and odds supplier of choice for US sports, including the NBA, MLB, and the NHL,” said Carsten Koerl, Global CEO, Sportradar. “Both Sportradar and FanDuel have established market leading positions through investment in innovation and cutting-edge products and services and this expanded agreement enables us to work together to further evolve FanDuel’s offering, particularly in areas like in-play betting. NFHS Network, streaming live and on-demand high school sports, announced that it more than tripled its sports producing venues during the 2020-21 scholastic year. By the end of the 2020-21 scholastic year, NFHS Network broadcasted the games of over 5,700 schools which represents a 174% increase year-over-year. This season NFHS Network streamed over 320,000 games and saw total views surpass 18,000,000 (up 225%).

The Professional Fighters League announced a partnership with VersusGame, a mobile platform allowing users to profit off pop culture predictions and events through interactive, user-generated games, to deliver a new category in the gaming economy to MMA fans. The partnership’s games are now live and will be available for the two-remaining 2021 PFL semifinal events on August 19 and 27 airing live in primetime across ESPN networks and streaming platforms.

The Ringer, a Spotify Studio and WWE will launch an exclusive audio network as part of a multi-year audio content partnership. As part of the deal, The Ringer and WWE will also collaborate to develop new, original audio content exclusively for the Spotify platform and Ringer website. In addition, existing WWE audio programming, which offers a unique look at the world of WWE both in the ring and beyond, will become available exclusively on Spotify.


American Eagle is partnering with Twitch, signing on to become the official apparel partner of the Twitchgaming channel. Along with brand imaging, which will be a part of the channel’s panels, American Eagle will work with Twitch Gaming to produce customized segments, as well as a five-part docuseries profiling Twitch streamers.

Complexity Gaming announced a partnership with eye care brand Alcon. The partnership will designate Alcon’s signature brand of lubricant eye drops, Systane, as the first-ever Official Eye Care Partner of team. “Alcon is excited to partner with Complexity through this first-of-its kind partnership that we hope will help players understand vision changes they might be having because of dry eye and help them find real relief,” said Jeff Huffman, Senior Director, Dry Eye and Ocular Health Marketing at Alcon. “Through this partnership, we are thrilled to introduce a new audience to our family of products which includes the newly launched Systane Hydration Multi-Dose Preservative Free lubricant eye drops at a time when they most need relief from dry eye symptoms and can keep their eyes on the prize.”

Nevada gaming regulators are launching the process to expand esports wagering to a greater slate of events as its popularity continues to grow. Nevada currently handles esports betting by requiring sportsbooks to submit an application that is reviewed and subject to approval by the Control Board. The next step for esports backers is for it to be considered a sport that would allow wagers to be taken without approval.

Dot Esports reports that esports and gaming network VENN has furloughed half of its staff and is pulling back on further production of original shows. The move comes as the company explores options and talks to potential buyers after launching a year ago.


Jackie MacMullan announced her retirement from ESPN at the end of the month. Her final day is August 31. She joined ESPN in 2010 as a senior writer and her work has been featured on nearly every ESPN platform, including ESPN.com, SportsCenter, Outside The Lines and The Jump. In addition to her work covering the NBA, MacMullan has been a cornerstone of ESPN’s show Around The Horn, where she’s made nearly 900 appearances.

The Parleh Media Group announced the acquisition of Toronto’s Homestand Sports – a live event and media production company and the creators of the popular Puck Talks. With the acquisition, Homestand Sports founder and President Kevin Kennedy has been named President and Executive Producer of Parleh Media Group. Kennedy will oversee all production for The Parleh’s social channels, digital products and distribution partners.

FloSports announced today two additions to its leadership team with the hiring of Kevin Boller and Geoff DeFrance. Kevin Boller joins the company as SVP, Strategy & Corporate Development. Geoff DeFrance joins FloSports as SVP, Product & Engineering.

MSG Networks announced the hire of Talaya Wilkins as Vice President of Content Strategy as it looks to add to its growing content division. In her role, Wilkins will lead a newly formed team designed to drive the network’s overall content strategy, with an increased focus on developing programming targeted at the growing sports betting audience.
