While the Wimbledon Champions are crowned, the Grass-Court Season continues this week. Tennis Channel is the only network to carry the Tennis Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Tournament. Events include an exhibition with 2017 US Open Champion Sloane Stephens against fellow American and top-12 player Madison Keys on Friday and the 2018 Induction Ceremony on Saturday.

Good morning. It’s Thursday July 19, 2018 and this is your first early morning Sports briefing.

Major League Baseball’s annual All-Star Game tossed FOX with 8,849,000 viewers across FOX, FOX Deportes and FOX’s streaming platforms, with the linear telecast on FOX snagging a 5.2/11 household rating/share with 8.7 million viewers, according to national figures from Nielsen. On FOX’s streaming services, last night’s game delivered an average minute audience of 91,000 and 254,000 unique streamers making it the most streamed MLB All-Star Game ever. Audiences were down from last year’s event although Chicago showed the biggest year-over-year growth up 60% over last year’s numbers. For the first half of the season, the MLB on FOX is up 10% compared to the same point in 2017.
 
 
ON THE AIR

ESPN and The R&A, the organizer of The Open Championship, inked a three-year renewal for rights on all means and media throughout Latin America, including Brazil and the Caribbean, for golf’s oldest major. The new agreement provides ESPN International with rights on its linear and digital platforms throughout the regions, and extends the longstanding ESPN and R&A collaboration in Latin America through 2020 with ESPN rights set to include all four rounds of the tournament beginning with their year’s edition.
 
Telemundo Deportes is tagging three-division World Champion and former Olympian athlete Abner Mares to return to the network to join Boxeo Telemundo’s announce team and serve as a special correspondent for all major fights for Titulares y Mas. He previously served as an analyst for Telemundo’s coverage of the 2016 Rio Olympics.
 
NBC Sports offers more than 30 hours of live coverage of the 2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens from San Francisco this weekend across NBC, NBCSN, Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA, NBCSports.com, the NBC Sports app, and NBC Sports Gold to mark the most US coverage of the Rugby World Cup Sevens in the event’s history. NBC Sports will present live coverage of all matches of the men’s and women’s tournaments. Linear coverage begins on Friday at 4p on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA, followed by six hours of coverage on NBCSN at 7p. Weekend coverage on NBC immediately follow live golf coverage of The 147th Open and NBCSN will carry live coverage of the men’s final on Sunday at 7p.
 
Tennis Channel takes on the 2018 International Tennis Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in Newport on Saturday at 12:30p. Michael Stich, 1991 Wimbledon champion, and Helena Sukova, a 14-time Grand Slam champion in doubles and mixed-doubles, will be immortalized among the greatest players of all-time during the afternoon. Brett Haber and Steve Weissman will join Chanda Rubin and Mark Knowles as the network’s on-air team this weekend.

Victor Davila and Marlon Vera call the fights in Spanish on FOX Deportes.
 
ESPN Deportes serves up coverage of the XXIII Central American and Caribbean Games from Barranquilla, Colombia from July 19 – Aug. 3. In all, ESPN Deportes will present more than 600 hours of coverage across ESPN Deportes and the ESPN App. Coverage of the competition begins today at 11a, and include highlights of all the competitions including, gymnastics, swimming, boxing, volleyball, women’s and men’s soccer, women’s and men’s basketball, among others.

DIGITAL & STREAMING

Thuuz Sports unveiled “the most exciting teams and matches” from the World Cup. Using their custom designed algorithms to measure real time global event excitement with partner FOX  Sports, it was determined that Spain and Croatia were the most exciting teams throughout the tournament, while the Croatia/Russia match was the most exciting match of the tournament with a perfect score of 100. The measurement scores were done on a 0 to 100 scale and take into consideration game pace, team parity, play novelty, momentum shifts, social buzz, and historical context. Number two on the list was Japan/Belgium, followed by Belgium/Brazil.
 
The New York Red Bulls announced the club’s first mobile app, developed by Venuetize, and now available for download on iPhone and Android devices. Fans will have the ability to scan, buy and share tickets via the club’s official app and access news, photos and videos, including the club’s ALL ACCESS video series, wherever they go on their mobile device. The app will also offer a contextual feature that will appear when fans are at Red Bull Arena, enhancing the fan experience at a match.
