DreamWorks stars Shrek and Puss in Boots now are top video bloggers for the new DreamWorksTV YouTube channel. In a partnership with AwesomenessTV, the channel will showcase original live-action series Prank My Parents, OMG, Record Setter Kids as well as animated shorts like Jimmy Blue Shorts, Public Pool, Fifi Cat Therapist, Gorillaville and Report Card. An original scripted series revolving around comic book character Richie Rich will also debut this summer. “The key to success for DreamWorksTV is creating great content that will engage our audience,” AwesomenessTV founder Brian Robbins told Cynopsis. “So we’re focused on original live action and animated short form ‘snackable’ content that is really funny.”
Conde Nast Entertainment is paving the way for its first scripted series through a first-look deal announced yesterday with 20th Century Fox TV. The partnership will bring sources from Conde Nast properties like Vanity Fair and Vogue to 20th TV, and CNE will have the opportunity to produce and fund scripted series with the studio.
Yahoo unveiled its new digital magazine, Yahoo Beauty. “The first thing you’ll notice is the stunning photos and videos, which allow you to see the stories before you read them,” Editor-in-Chief Bobbi Brown said in a blog. “We’ll also have inspiring stories from people like Palestinian journalist Rula Jebreal, American Ballet Theatre soloist Misty Copeland and Olympic runner Lea Wallace.”

BBC America launched the web series Almost Royal Goes to YouTube featuring YT stars Chester See and Kingsley yesterday. The show is a companion to the network’s original comedy series Almost Royal, which follows young British aristocrats interacting with real Americans. The first ep is available on BBC America’s YT channel and at BBCAmerica.com.
British TV streaming site Acorn TV will exclusively premiere the final three episodes of Agatha Christie’s Poirot beginning on Aug 11 with Elephants Can Remember. The ep Labours of Hercules will debut on Aug 18, and Curtain: Poirot’s Last Case will round out the 70 total mysteries on Aug 25. Forbes Media announced that Forbes magazine increased its readership by one million in the past year to six million, resulting in its highest audience ever in the U.S. “Print and digital are supporting each other,” Forbes Magazine Editor Randall Lane told Cynopsis. “Readers continue to be attracted to deep-dive reporting, contrarian views and beautiful design and photography; we’re delivering that kind of rich consumer experience across multiple platforms.”

MOBILE GAMING + APPS
Rovio is extending its Angry Birds hit into the new franchise Angry Birds Transformers, which will include a mobile game and a product line from Hasbro. Forbes reports the mobile game will be part of its racing hit Angry Birds Go!, but no release date has been set yet. Rovio previously announced a female-focused character addition, called Angry Birds Stella, which will launch in September.

MediaRadar added a new online video ad sales platform to its sales tools to better help publishers find the best and most competitive video ad opportunities. The marketing tech company works with publishers including ESPN, The New York Times, Mashable and Bloomberg BusinessWeek.
Kantar Media announced the U.S. launch of TGI Consumer Insights Business. “TGI fills a need in the U.S. for consistent consumer insights delivered with a global perspective,” Head of Kantar Media TGI, U.S. Leslie Albright said.
Outrigger Media’s new YouTube media-planning platform Vnetic is looking to align advertisers with the channels best suited for a campaign. The platform comes from the creators of YT channel-rater OpenSlate, and pulls content and engagement data from more than 220,00 channels. “Short form video is unfamiliar, fragmented and fast-growing; this gives brands the transparency and quality control required to leverage the scale of YouTube,” Outrigger’s CEO Mike Henry told Cynopsis. “Given the breadth of content on YouTube, helping brand advertisers better understand what’s available on the platform is a priority for us,” Carat USA SVP Group Director, Digital Strategy Sarah Baehr said. “Vnetic will help us make more informed buying decisions on YouTube and increase the reach and efficiency of our client’s video buys.”

DIGITAL SPOTLIGHT OF THE DAY
Oscar winning Director Spike Jonze, who is also known for his very cool ads, delivered the keynote speech at the first day of the advertising festival Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity yesterday. He revealed that his favorite ad was Sony Bravia’s award winning 2006 “Balls” ad. He describes it as “just magic” and something that gave him “that feeling.” His Ikea spot from 2003 titled “Lamp” won the Film Grand Prix award at the festival in the same year.
