ADVERTISING
Snapchat is out with some new ad tools. As first reported by Adweek, the app has opened the door for both big-dollar advertisers and small businesses to buy and create ads directly on Snapchat’s website, with no minimum spend. Snap Inc. has also launched its Certified Partners Program, which will allow third-party agencies to get Snapchat-qualified before lending support and training to marketers.
PROGRAMMING + CONTENT ACQUISITIONS
Twitter’s live video content has been heavy on sports and news, but it looks like there’s more to the company’s strategy. After HBO canceled Game of Thrones digital after-show After the Thrones, from Bill Simmons, Twitter announced that it will host a new talk series following episodes of GOT’s upcoming seventh season. The after-show, which will feature commentary and recaps, comes from The Ringer, the sports and culture site founded by Simmons. Called Talk the Thrones, the series will be available through The Ringer’s Twitter and Periscope accounts. Game of Thrones’ new season debuts on July 16.
Looks like Facebook is starting its push into TV-like original video content. The social giant has greenlit Last State Standing, an unscripted competition series in which contestants will compete for a $500,000 price. The series comes from A. Smith and Co., the production company behind American Ninja Warrior. And, as first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Facebook is in talks to revive Loosely Exactly Nicole, the Nicole Byer-starring comedy series that MTV canceled last year. (The show only lasted for one season.) Facebook hasn’t commented on the reports. The company is prepared to pay as much as $250,000 per episode for original video series, Reuters reported last month.
Last month, Las Vegas startup Poker Central launched PokerGo, an SVOD service devoted to major poker events such as the World Series of Poker. Now the service has partnered with digital media producer Believe Entertainment Group to create and produce a short-form comedy series. Called Poker Nights, the show will debut later this summer. The six-episode series will star SNL alum Chris Parnell.

The ListenFirst Television Interest (TVI) Rating (TM) is a standardized measurement of the most buzzed-about TV programs on linear TV and streaming services. A complement to ListenFirst’s other syndicated data products (such as the ListenFirstDigital Audience Rating – TV), the metrics included in the rating capture organic actions that are largely unaffected by paid media. Programs that surface on the TVI leaderboards are the most hashtagged on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and Tumblr, as well as most searched for on Wikipedia (used as a proxy for organic search volume).
