Amazon will exclusively stream the kid’s franchise Fireman Sam as of today. The entire franchise from HIT Entertainment, including episodes, apps, games, e-books and toys will be available through Amazon. The product line will launch in October 2014.
British TV streaming site Acorn TV added eight new programs: Murdock Mysteries Season 7, The Field of Blood, LoveJoy Series 2, The saint Set 1, The Death of the Heart, The Broker’s Man Series 2, Republic of Doyle Season 1 and Playing Shakespeare. Acorn TV content can be viewed at www.Acorn.TV and on its Roku channel.
YuMe introduced the Reach Calculator yesterday. The interactive tool allows media buyers and agencies to see examples of multi-screen video planning that demonstrates which strategies will give the largest ROI for a campaign. The calculator was derived from a Nielsen study showing households had on average 4.4 devices, with 87 percent of consumers using devices while the TV is on. In the multi-device lab portion of the research, a better outcome of a campaign came when three or more devices were brought into the mix.

The FIFA World Cup will be a multi-screen global event, according to a new YuMe audience survey measuring the event’s viewing habits. Soccer fans will be live streaming matches on computers (33 percent), tablet (22 percent), smartphones (11 percent) and smart TVs (13 percent). The study also found 59 percent agree that being able to watch on multiple devices will let them see more matches, and more than 54 percent will watch an entire match through online video.

Apple held its Worldwide Developers Conference yesterday, but the iPhone 6 or possible Apple TV did not make an appearance. Instead, the tech giant revealed the updated operating system iOS8 and the Mac OS X Yosemite which will be available in the fall. Last week, Apple bought Dr. Dre and Jimmy Lovine‘s Beats Electronics and Beats Music service for $3 billion.
DreamWorks Animation and Fuhu released the new DreamTab HD8 tablet specifically made for kids. The tablet features DreamWorks’ characters like Shrek, How To Train Your Dragon and Kung Fu Panda integrated into games, creative tools and its learning system. "Today’s kids are savvy consumers, so we enlisted the DreamWorks Animation filmmakers and artists to work hand-in-hand with our innovators to ensure that the nabi DreamTab would resonate with kids in a big way," DreamWorks Animation’s Head of Digital Strategy Jim Mainard said. The tablet is available for $266 at Wal-Mart, Target and select retailers nationwide.
