FX isn’t moving forward with “Belated,” the Peter Tolan comedy pilot starring Kal Penn. Tolan, who co-created “Rescue Me” for the network, wrote, directed and exec-produced the semi-autobiographical pilot alongside Nick Alford of Cloudland.

And two series got news over the weekend they’re not returning. “Raised by Wolves” is stopping in its tracks after season 2. HBO Max canceled the Ridley Scott sci-fi drama series, which centers on two androids who are raising human children on a mysterious virgin planet, after two seasons… “Legends of the Hidden Temple,” a reimagining of the Nickelodeon series from the ‘90s, will not be back for season 2 on the CW.

Apple TV+ shared a trailer of Maya Rudolph as a spiraling billionaire in comedy “Loot,” the first three episodes of which debut Friday, June 24. From Alan Yang (“Little America”) and Matt Hubbard (“30 Rock,” “Forever”), and exec-produced by Rudolph, the series follows a woman who has all the things her heart desires, but embarks on a journey of self-discovery after she’s betrayed by her husband and learns she has a charity foundation. In addition to Rudolph, the “Loot” ensemble cast features Michaela Jae Rodriguez (“Pose”), Ron Funches (“Undateable”), Nat Faxon (“Married”) and Joel Kim Booster (‘Sunnyside”).

If the shoe fits: Peacock landed rights to “True To Size,” a comedy from stand-up comedian and writer Dan Levy (“The Goldbergs”), Kevin Hart’s HartBeat Productions, Doug Robinson and Sony Pictures Television, and based on Hart’s time in his 20s working at a mall-based sneaker shop in the’90s. in real life, the sales gig ended up changing Hart’s life after the store manager convinced him to try standup at an open mic.

Also at Peacock, Dascha Polanco (“Orange Is The New Black”) and Lil Rel Howery (“Free Guy”) will topline along with Natasha Lyonne in “Poker Face,” a 10-ep case-of-the-week-style mystery drama from Rian Johnson, T-Street and MRC Television. Adrien Brody, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Stephanie Hsu, Benjamin Bratt and David Castañeda are also on board for the project, whose exec producers include Ram Bergman, Nena Rodrigue, Lyonne, Maya Rudolph and Danielle Renfrew Behrens.

“Payback” joins the TV One True Crime Mondays lineup today (June 6) at 10p. The series profiles cases where people go to deadly lengths to exact revenge against those who’ve scorned them—whether it’s a cheating ex, a double-crossing co-worker, or the best friend who stabbed them in the back.

Season 2 of “Birdgirl” takes flight on Adult Swim on Sunday, June 19 at 11:30p, with episodes airing the following day on HBO Max. The new season finds Judy Ken Sebben and the Birdteam attempting to navigate the troubles of modern corporations, tackling everything from ethics in new tech, to cancel culture and rejuvenating skin sack health fads… Also headed to the net this summer are season 2 of “Tuca & Bertie” and season 3 of “Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal.”

June 25 is the premiere date for Snap series “Level Up With Stephen Curry,” which features the two-time NBA MVP mentoring the next generation of stars and empowering them to raise their game both on and off the court.

All five eps of FX docuseries “Children of the Underground” hit the screen Friday, August 12 at 8p. Centered on charismatic vigilante Faye Yager, the Zseries chronicles the true story of how she built a vast underground network that hid hundreds of mothers and children, saving them from the alleged abuse of husbands and fathers when a broken court system would not. Yager placed herself in the crosshairs of the FBI, setting off a highly publicized trial that raised the specter of a dark side to the movement. “Children of the Underground” will debut on Hulu the day after its network premiere and will be coming soon to Star+ in Latin America and Disney+ under the Star banner in all other territories.

Shudder released key art for “Queer for Fear,” the four-part docuseries about the history of queer people in the thriller genre. From exec producers Bryan Fuller (“Hannibal”) and Steak House (“Launchpad”), the Shudder original will debut in fall 2022 and document literary origins with queer authors Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker and Oscar Wilde; the pansy craze of the ‘20s that influenced Universal Monsters and Hitchcock; the “lavender scare” alien invasion films of the mid-20th century and the AIDS-obsessed bloodletting of ‘80s vampire films.

Hoops star Gilbert Arenas is set to host 2022 NBA Finals watch parties across socials including Twitch, YouTube, Twitter and Instagram. “No Chill with Gilbert Arenas” will feature NBA All-Star Kenyon Martin Sr., co-host Josiah Johnson, comedian Famous Los and others dishing up authentic takes on the games and players live and in real-time. Watch parties are planned for Wednesday, June 8 for Game 3 and Friday, June 10 for Game 4.

FETV will celebrate a swell Father’s Day with A Very Ward Father’s Day “Leave It To Beaver” marathon on Sunday, June 19 beginning at 7p and featuring one of the most iconic TV dads.

CNBC Documentaries’ “Exxonmobil at the Crossroads” will premiere Wednesday, June 22 at 8p. In the one-hour doc the network’s David Faber goes inside one of the most powerful, storied, and consequential players in the energy industry as the company faces shareholder challenges over its direction and criticism that is fostered public uncertainty about global warming.

HBO Documentary Films will present “Chernobyl: The Lost Tapes,” directed by Emmy winner James Jones (“Mosul”), on Wednesday, June 22 at 9p. Thirty-six years after the Chernobyl nuclear reactor exploded in Soviet Ukraine, newly uncovered archival footage and recorded interviews with those who were present paint an portrait of the extent and gravity of the disaster and the lengths to which the Soviet government went to cover up the incident.

MyBundle.TV announced an integrated billing with Sling TV aimed at simplifying the ability to access Sling so users can sign up, manage billing and receive customer support from within the streaming service app.

Castify.ai, an omnichannel content distribution and monetization platform, says it’s seen a year over year rise of 170 percent in viewership with an increase of 230 percent in average time spent on customer OTT applications. Castify.ai’s data shows that as streaming subscription costs rise, viewers are more likely to explore free content that comes on their connected televisions. “This shift towards exploring new channels via Smart TV applications is occurring across various platforms as viewership trends move away from the crowded streaming landscape,” said Gal Turjeman, CEO of Castify.ai.

RATINGS

Thursday night’s opener of the NBA finals was the least-watched Game 1 held in June since 2007, with an average 11.9 million viewers. That’s down 11% from pre-pandemic 2019.

The first season of franchise expansion series “Home Town Kickstart,” presented by People, attracted nearly 15.4 million viewers. The six-ep season, which averaged a 0.51 Live+3 rating among A25-54 and a 0.65 live Live+3 rating among W25-54, aired Sundays at 8p.

Food Network’s “Worst Cooks in America” wrapped its season with an average 0.8 A25-54 /1.1 W25-54 Live+3 rating, up 31 percent and 30 percent, respectively vs. the prior season and reached more than 7M P2+ viewers, with the season now standing as the series’ highest rated since Q3 2020.

The premiere All Winners season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars” broke viewership records on Paramount+, according to the streamer, which said it became its most-watched original reality series. Without sharing numbers, Paramount+ claimed the latest season of the drag competition was up nearly 60 percent from its season 6 premiere.

“#OLGGamePlan,” the digital sports betting series developed through Twitter Originals fueled by so.da program, has tracked more than 70 million video views and counting for the 17 eps that have aired so far. Since it launched in February 2022, series has garnered 185 million impressions and each ep has tracked a video view rate of 51 percent.
