FOX Sports named three-time NFL Pro Bowler Greg Olsen as this season’s lead NFL analyst, joining play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt in the booth. Erin Andrews and Tom Rinaldi, along with rules expert Mike Pereira, round out the team as they prepare for the network’s top regular and postseason games – culminating with FOX’s 10th all-time Super Bowl presentation. The team makes its regular season debut on Sunday, Sept. 11, from Minneapolis, as the Minnesota Vikings host the Green Bay Packers in an NFC North showdown on AMERICA’S GAME OF THE WEEK.

PROGRAMMING

TNT’s presentation of the 2022 NBA Western Conference Finals – won by the Golden State Warriors over the Dallas Mavericks (4-1) – delivered the network its most watched Conference Finals coverage since 2018, averaging 6.7 million viewers. Viewership for the five-game series finished up 35% over TNT’s 2021 NBA Eastern Conference Finals coverage (Hawks/Bucks, 5.0 million viewers, six games) and up 23% when compared with last year’s Western Conference Finals (Clippers/Suns, 5.5 million viewers, six games).

The 2022 NBA Finals Presented By YouTubeTV will air exclusively on ABC, beginning with Game 1 on Thursday, June 2, at 9 p.m. ET as the Golden State Warriors host the Boston Celtics. It’s the 20th consecutive year ESPN will produce the NBA Finals on ABC, dating back to the 2002-03 event. All NBA Finals games will air on ABC, ESPN Radio, ESPN Deportes and the ESPN App and Game 1 will include an ESPN2 alternate presentation called NBA Finals: Celebrating 75.

ESPN has secured a deal for exclusive rights in Australia to International Basketball Federation (FIBA) events for four years. The deal includes the Sydney-hosted FIBA 2022 Women’s Basketball World Cup from September 22 to October 1, which will feature the Australian Women’s team, known as the Opals.

Tennis Channel and Bloomberg Television are continuing their partnership, which exposes each network to the other’s audience during the 2022 French Open in Paris, through June 5. On weeknights, Bloomberg Television and Radio will present their audiences with a one-minute Tennis Channel-produced update on the latest news and highlights from the Open. Tennis Channel viewers will see a similar Bloomberg-produced daily recap on these days as well.

Nickelodeon will air Slime Cup, a one-hour golf special produced with members from Turner Sports’ Capital One’s The Match production staff. Slime Cup is scheduled to air June 25 across Nickelodeon, TeenNick and Nicktoons (8 PM ET). Nickelodeon Slime Cup will feature four teams of three players that consist of a pro golfer, a celebrity and a Nick star, with the final round inside the Rose Bowl. Participants include pro golfers Collin Morikawa, Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas, and Lexi Thompson; NFL stars Justin Herbert and Saquon Barkley; and WWE star Nikki Bella. Nick stars Gabrielle Nevaeh Green and Young Dylan, and CBS Sports’ play-by-play announcer Noah Eagle will provide commentary in the booth (as they did during the NFL Wild Card Game on Nickelodeon), while actors Jerry Trainor (iCarly) and Hunter March (Betch) serve as sideline reporters.

The Lawn Tennis Association secured expanded domestic coverage of its 2022 grass court events via new broadcast deals with the BBC public service broadcaster and Amazon Prime Video. The Rothesay Open Nottingham and Rothesay Classic Birmingham WTA 250 events will also be co-broadcast, with the BBC providing coverage via its digital platforms. The ATP 250 event in Eastbourne will air exclusively on Prime Video, while BBC’s digital platforms will be the sole UK broadcast outlet for Nottingham and Surbiton Trophy ATP Challenger events.

Accenture is now the PGA Tour Championship’s third partner, joining Coca-Cola and Southern Co. Accenture’s sponsorship begins with this year’s tournament — the finale of the FedExCup Playoffs at Atlanta’s East Lake Golf Club from Aug. 24-28 — and extends through ’27.

Gatorade will not renew its sponsorship of the NHL, which expires at the conclusion of the current season. PepsiCo in ’18 signed a five-year renewal of its sponsorship agreement with the NHL, which in addition to sports nutrition included exclusive North American rights in the non-alcoholic beverage and savory snack categories. PepsiCo has been an NHL sponsor since 2006.

Xylem has renewed its multi-year global sponsorship of Premier League Champions Manchester City and selected City Football Group teams. The multi-year renewal covers Manchester City men’s and women’s teams, Major League Soccer champions New York City FC and Indian Super League club Mumbai City.

Stanford golfer Rose Zhang became the first student-athlete to sign an NIL deal with Adidas. Zhang will wear the brand’s clothing at events when she’s not representing Stanford, which is a Nike school. Zhang also was the first NIL ambassador for Callaway,” and added a deal with American Express ahead of her fourth consecutive U.S. Women’s Open.

Camping Worldwill return as title sponsor for the Superstar Racing Experience (SRX), a six-race short-track series airing primetime Saturday nights this summer on CBS and Paramount+. The 2022 Camping World SRX Season runs for six consecutive weeks, beginning at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida on Saturday, June 18.

U.S. Bank and the WNBA are partnering with Project Destined to launch “She’s Invested: Supporting Emerging Female Leaders,” the first all-female program for the organization. The program will provide mentoring and financial education to women of color from HBCUs and universities in Southern California. U.S. Bank and the WNBA will pair up with 30 female students and provide leadership and mentoring through a speaker series led by league execs and players.

Autograph (the Web3 brand launched by Tom Brady) dropped a commemorative NFT to celebrate Autograph’s presence at Capital One’s The Match. The live golf event series is scheduled for today at the Wynn Las Vegas, where Brady and Aaron Rodgers will play against Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen (TNT, 6:30 PM ET). Autograph’s Capital One’s The Match ’22: The Cart commemorative NFT can be redeemed for free by all Capital One’s The Match attendees and TV viewers, as of yesterday.

MLB Hall of Famer Derek Jeter has announced he is launching his own Twitter and Instagram accounts, as of yesterday.

Callaway has invested in LinksDAO’s ongoing equity round, becoming a strategic partner in the company. LinksDAO is a decentralized autonomous organization that classifies itself as a “global community of golf enthusiasts in Web3, reimagining the modern golf and leisure club.” As part of the agreement, Callaway will offer discounts and deals on branded items to NFT holders and become LinksDAO’s official equipment provider.

Tekken announced that the Tekken World Tour is returning, with five offline Master Events this year. The first, CEO 2022, begins June 24th, along with official online tournaments and 13 regional finals.

Sequoia Games’ officially licensed augmented reality game, Flex NBA, reached new partnerships with former NBAer Tim Hardaway and Basketball HOFers Mitch Richmond and Chris Mullin for the upcoming launch of the All-Time Great & Legendary Flexagon Tile Series.

Beijing-based esports organization Jing Dong Gaming (JDG), signed two strategic partnerships with Samsung and hardware brand Republic of Gamers (ROG) for its League of Legends Pro League (LPL) team. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, and no agencies were involved.

Hewlett Packard’s gaming laptop brand Omen signed a sponsorship deal with Chinese game publisher NetEase for the Naraka Bladepoint Pro League (NBPL), becoming the league’s official partner.

Fortnite will host the FNCS Invitational 2022 in-person on November 12 and 13 in Raleigh, North Carolina.
