Kevin Reilly announced he will leave Fox Broadcasting Company by the end of June. Reilly, who was named chairman of entertainment in 2012, said in a statement, "With a robust new slate of programming for next season and strength in the FBC ranks, it felt like the timing was as right as it ever could be. I couldn’t be more thankful to my team – a group of creative, tireless and fun people whose fellowship I will miss." At the end of a letter to his staff, he P.S.-ed, "Don’t go back to pilot season!" During the transition period, Reilly’s senior executives will report to chairman and CEO of Fox Networks Group Peter Rice, who said of Reilly’s exit, "We all respect his decision and agreed that after the upfront presentation was the right time."
Dish Network announced it will start accepting Internet currency Bitcoin as payment starting in the third quarter. Online retailers including Overstock.com have allowed bitcoin, but Dish claims it’s the biggest company yet to accept the virtual currency.
Cult fave Community, canceled by NBC after five seasons, may come back to life on Hulu. Deadline reports Sony Pictures Television is in preliminary talks with the streaming service about season six.

Newsmax Media‘s Newsmax TV, targeting politically conservative Baby Boomers, signed a distribution deal with DirecTV ahead of a national launch it said it expects will reach 40 percent of U.S. cable and satellite homes by the end of 2014. "Newsmax was born online and as the lines between TV and the web blur, we will attract a growing audience that doesn’t differentiate between the two," said CEO Christopher Ruddy. "We are also well positioned to maximize the opportunities provided by TV Everywhere platforms to reach tens of millions of Americans."
DreamWorks Dragons is hopping from Cartoon Network, its home for two seasons, to Netflix in spring 2015.
Got Your 6, an entertainment industry-backed group devoted to shifting public perception of veterans, hosted an industry summit Thursday in Beverly Hills that brought together over 300 industry execs, content creators and programmers. In a new report, Nielsen says the effectiveness of integrated campaigns across multiple screens to maximize results has been "mixed." An analysis by the measurement company’s Cross-Platform Campaign Ratings of 45 campaigns found the vast majority "did not achieve better results than if the TV and online advertising had been planned separately." With research indicating marketers can generate an 8 percent greater reach without spending more money, Nielsen labels the efforts analyzed "a real missed opportunity."

Fox‘s So You Think You Can Dance returned for season 11 on Wednesday with pop star Justin Bieber guesting. The show’s 1.6 rating among A18-49 was enough to win the 8p-10p timeslot, but even an appearance by the pop star couldn’t keep the competition series from slipping 16 percent over last year’s premiere in the demo.
Science Channel matched its highest rated month ever in P18-49 in May 2014, and delivered double digit growth in key demos. Outrageous Acts of Science in May averaged 239,000 P18-49 viewers and the May 2 premiere of Survivorman: Bigfoot averaged 328,000 P25-54 and 271,000 P18-49, helping drive the network to gains across key demos versus May 2013 that included a 22 percent boost in total viewers P2+, 22 percent in P25-54, 23 percent in M25-54, 21 percent in W25-54, and 20 percent in both Persons and M18-49.
Animal Planet‘s Blood Lake: Attack of the Killer Lampreys delivered 1.2 million P2+ viewers on Sunday, landing the net in sixth place in its time slot among all ad-supported cable nets among M25-54 (251,000) and number seven among P25-54 (511,000), excluding sports.
Nat Geo and Nat Geo WILD scored their best May ever in Prime across key demos, according to Nielsen. Nat Geo averaged 520,000 total viewers, the first time the net has averaged over a half million total viewers for the month of May, and a record 248,000 P25-54. WILD averaged 198,000 total viewers, up 17 percent, and 66,000 P25-54.
E! posted year-over-year gains in May among total viewers and in all its target demos. One key driver: returning series Total Divas, out-delivering year-ago programming across all key demos, up to 135 percent in total viewers (1 million), up 103 percent in W18-34 (252,000), and up 142 percent in A18-49 (628,000). Total Divas also ranks as a Top 5 ad-supported cable show on Sundays at 9p in W18-34 (number 3) and A18-34 (number 5).
Wednesday A18-49 Analysis: FOX won the most A18-49 viewers Wednesday with 1.6/5, according to Nielsen. The premiere of Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance scored 1.7/6 to win 8p, followed by a 1.1/4 average for ABC’s The Middle and The Goldbergs. Fox’s Dance stayed on top at 9p with 1.7/5, versus a 1.3/4 average for ABC’s Modern family and The Goldbergs. NBC’s Brian Williams Report on Edward Snowden won 10p with 1.3/4; Univision placed second with 1.2/4 for Que Pobres Tan Ricos.
