A miniseries event will follow the progress of teams from around the world as they race to land a craft on the surface of the moon, travel 500 meters, and transmit live pictures and video back to earth. The competition "offers all the ingredients of fantastic television; stakes, competition, big characters, and mind-blowing visuals. It’s the perfect project for Science Channel and Discovery Channel to partner on," said Eileen O’Neill, Group Vice President for Discovery Channel, Science Channel and Velocity.
Aereo might as well throw in the towel if the Supreme Court rules against them in their battle with broadcasters, Barry Diller told Bloomberg. "If we lose, we’re finished," said the chairman of Aereo-backer IAC. As for paying retransmission fees, "We probably could. But the value proposition would go out of the game because Aereo is a low-cost method of receiving over-the-air broadcasting. That’s the platform."
Settle down, Michael Strahan told viewers fretting over reports that the Live! With Kelly & Michael host was headed for ABC‘s Good Morning America. Said Nickelodeon, "We are wrapping up what was an unusually long production cycle of Sam & Cat, and everyone is understandably tired."
Hulu struck a deal with NBCUniversal for exclusive rights to past seasons of shows including The Mindy Project, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Top Chef and Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Discovery Communications will announce today that Discovery and TLC are offering Spanish-Language secondary audio programming (SAP) for a selection of top series, starting next month. "It is critically important that Discovery’s core mission of satisfying curiosity is inclusive of all viewers, including one of the fastest-growing demographics in the U.S," said Eileen O’Neill, group president, Discovery, Science Channel and Velocity. "SAP affords our growing base of U.S. Hispanic viewers the opportunity to enjoy their favorite Discovery shows however they want to enjoy them, in either Spanish or English."
