Streaming service UMC (Urban Movie Channel) announced a new multi-generational family drama from Dan Garcia(Bronx SIU). Currently in the beginning stages of production, the new series will star Demetria McKinney (House of Payne), Paula Jai Parker (Ray Donovan), Lawrence Hilton Jacobs (The Jacksons: An American Dream), Brad James (For Better or Worse), David McKnight (Hollywood Shuffle), Taja V. Simpson (Lethal Weapon) and Art Evans (Die Hard 2). Series is slated for a summer 2019 premiere.

ABC’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will return for its sixth season with a special episode directed by series star Clark Gregg on Friday, May 10 at 8p. The announcement was at WonderCon.

AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead is back for season five on June 2 at 9p, leading into newcomer NOS4A2, based on the horror novel by Joe Hill, at 10p.

Friend MTS, the content and revenue protection specialist, announced the launch of Piracy-iQ, a service for measuring streaming piracy consumption over internet service provider networks that allows content owners, programmers and pay-TV providers to assess the impact of piracy on their businesses and track the performance of their content protection services. “Until now, the content protection marketplace hasn’t offered the analytical tools needed to truly understand the scale of piracy consumption and the effectiveness of anti-piracy services,” said Simon Williamson, Chief Commercial Officer, Friend MTS. “With Piracy-iQ, content theft can be precisely measured and additional security countermeasures can be deployed in a highly targeted manner based on accurate data.”
Apple canceled AirPower, a wireless charger first announced in September 2017. “After much effort, we’ve concluded AirPower will not achieve our high standards and we have cancelled the project….We continue to believe that the future is wireless and are committed to push the wireless experience forward,” said Dan Riccio, Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Engineering. AirPower had originally been expected to launch in 2018. 
Alphabet’s Sidewalk Labs launched CommonSpace, an app for park operators and others to offer observations about public spaces. “The data collected with CommonSpace can be easily exported into visualization and analysis tools that communities and space managers alike can use to see patterns, generate insights, and develop evidence-based approaches to advocating for change,” said Sidewalk senior engineer Ananta Pandey in a blog post. No personal data will be collected about people whose behavior is observed.
Facebook is getting stricter about political advertising in Europe, expanding on rules intended to prevent interference in EU Parliament elections. Advertisers will have to undergo checks, and ads will have to identify who paid for them. Facebook is also introducing Ads Library, an improved archive tool that lets users search political ads on a public database.

Ad-supported VOD service Tubi has launched on Cox Contour, giving customers free access to over 12,000 movies and TV series. “Our partnership with Cox expands upon our mission to make entertainment accessible to everyone,” said Farhad Massoudi, CEO of Tubi. “With the addition of Cox Contour, Tubi will continue to have the widest distribution of any ad-supported streaming service.”
With its rollout in Glendive, Montana, YouTubeTV officially became available in all 210 U.S. TV markets. “Welcome to the family!” tweeted the service.
Valorous TV, the new digital streaming subscription service from Valorous Media, is premiering the new Director’s Cut of the documentary, Black Hawk Down: The Untold Story. Film features never-before-seen footage, with stories told directly by the troops who were on the ground during the Battle of Mogadishu, as well as commentary by General Mark A. Milley, the 39th Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army.
Classic CBS/Fox Video/Nickelodeon series, Kids in Motion: A Creative Movement and Music Show, is being rebooted by original creator, Julie W. Markovitz and Producer, George Paige.  Digital content experts Amber Cordero and Steve Smythe will help bring the program back to life as new OTT content targeting kids 2 to 8 years in age. Production for New Kids in Motion is slated to start in early 2020.
Sony Pictures Television sold a majority stake in streaming service Crackle to Chicken Soup For the Soul Entertainment. A new joint venture, Crackle Plus, will include programming from SPT as well as CSS.
UK production-funding and distribution agency Drive has been appointed to distribute three new royal family documentaries and an eight-part royal talk show produced by UK indie Spun Gold TV. Specials include Meghan & Harry: Bringing Up Baby (wt), Meghan Markle: Inside the Wardrobe of a Princess, and Inside Royal Homes. Series is The Royal View.
Ahead of the eighth and final season of HBO’s Game of Thrones, Znak & Co announced the return to Sky Atlantic of Game of Thrones fan shows Thronecast and Thronecast: War Room, as well as the launch of a new special, Gameshow of Thrones, premiering Friday, March 29 on Sky One.
Izzy Diaz (Telenovela) landed a series regular role in CBS comedy pilot From RichesDenise Richards (The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills) has joined the cast of daytime’s The Bold and the Beautiful.
