AOL
will premiere its first long-form series Connected on March 31. An adaptation of an Israeli factual show and sponsored by Sprint, the docu-drama will capture American life through six New Yorkers. Four episodes will roll out every two weeks until May 25, for a total of 20. AOL Originals Dermot McCormack, Koda CommunicationsRam Landes and Ami Teer as well as Morgan Spurlock of Warrior Poets serve as executive producers on the show. FremantleMedia International will distribute the show in the international market; AOL Canada maintains an exclusive premiere window across Canada.
 
The site that diagnoses it all, WebMD, and Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts debuted a new health series yesterday. Produced by Robert’s Rock’n Robin company, The Future of Health with Robin Roberts highlights medical marvels ranging from the bionic eye to the creation of robotic limbs through 3D printing. The five-part series will include five-minute installments available at webMD.com.
 
British TV streaming service Acorn TV added several new shows, including detective series JO, starring Jean Reno (Mission: Impossible) in his first TV lead; crime drama REBUS, Series 1; and the U.S. premiere of the docu-series Small Animal Hospital. Acorn TV also premiered the third episode of New Worlds yesterday. The service is available at Acorn.TV, Roku, iTunes app and more.
 
Pundits were left wringing their hands about the state of the news industry after the recent debacle with NBC‘s Brian Williams, but they shouldn’t have been so surprised, writes Jim McKairnes in the newest Cynsiders.

 
 
CONTENT MEDIA

 
From Beyonce capturing the superselfie to OK Go’s trippy visuals, YouTube honored the artists that created the best music experiences from song to video with the 2015 YouTube Music Awards. Chosen by fans, the winning artists had the biggest growth in views, subscribers and engagement over the last six months on YT. Additionally, on March 23 at 10p PT, YT will drop a collection of exclusive new music videos from emerging artists. To create them, VICE and YT selected top directors including Cahoots, Charli XCX, Ed Sheeran, Martin Garrix, Max Schneider, Migos, Megan Nicole, Nicky Jam and Shamir.
 
Since debuting last April, Fox Sports daily web series @TheBuzzer has become a social hit: 37 million views across platforms, with 93 percent of the show’s views coming from Facebook. According to Fox Sports, social media referrals are 44% of FoxSports.com’s traffic, with Facebook reeling in 15 million visits to the site as of Dec. 2014. Entertainment Tonight and The Insider alum Nicole Dabeau hosts the show, and videos are posted to the network’s Facebook channel, YT channel, and at FoxSports.com. The breaking news series will arrive next on Snapchat.

Marketing solutions provider Madison Logic acquired ad platform BBN. “Now we can seamlessly target and intersect buyers at every stage, from awareness to interest, engagement, to justification and selection, all using a single partner,” said ML client and Stein IAS Chief Marketing Officer Ted Kohnen. Google Ventures
led music rights firm Kobalt’s latest $60 million Series C funding round. Kobalt created a platform to provide music royalties across digital devices to rights holders. Michael Dell, founder of computer giant Dell, is the other investor in the funding round.
