Major League Baseball announced that loanDepot, the Official Mortgage Provider of MLB, has been named the presenting sponsor of the American and National League Championship Series through 2025. The brand also announced two large-scale initiatives as well as help support communities nationwide: the Home Means Everything RBI campaign and sponsorship of MLB’s Opening Day Pick ‘Em contest. “We are thrilled to be partners with Major League Baseball and proud to be the presenting sponsor of the American and National League Championship Series,” said loanDepot Founder and CEO Anthony Hsieh. “Most importantly, we are proud to be giving back to the communities in which we live and work, and are delighted to be providing opportunities for fans and families nationwide.”


ESPN’s NFL Draft coverage will have a new focal point as Mike Greenberg will now serve as host for both Days 1 and 2 of the annual event beginning April 29, replacing Trey Wingo in the role. “As our viewers have witnessed for almost 25 years now, Greeny is extremely talented, and he excels at asking smart questions and setting up our NFL experts to do what they do best – share important information, compelling stories and insightful analysis,” said Seth Markman, ESPN vice president, production. “ESPN has a 41-year history of exceptional Draft coverage and exceptional Draft hosts, and Greeny has the passion and experience to build upon that legacy and lead us forward.”

NBC Sports and INDYCAR revealed the full 2021 NTT INDYCAR SERIES telecast schedule, featuring a record nine races bound for NBC, highlighted by the 105th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on May 30 starting at 11a. Six of the first eight races of the season will air on NBC, including the season opening Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama at Barber Motorsports Park on April 18, at 3p. The season concludes with the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach – on Sept. 26 at 3p on NBCSN.

CBS Sports and HBCU All-Stars LLC, a Black-owned sports marketing and event company, are teaming up to create the HBCU All-Star Game, a college basketball showcase highlighting the best HBCU players in the country. The event begins in 2022 in New Orleans and will be played on the Sunday of Final Four weekend in the host city, airing live on CBS. In addition to the game, ViacomCBS announced the establishment of a multi-year commitment to HBCUs with the creation of an annual scholarship fund and internship opportunities in an effort to foster, highlight, identify and recruit the many talented and accomplished students from all HBCUs.

Meanwhile, this weekend sees the NBA highlight and pay tribute to the role of Historically Black Colleges and Universities at NBA All-Star 2021 with HBCU-inspired elements incorporated on broadcast and in-arena on Sunday. In addition to music, content and storytelling, the league will spotlight HBCU students and alumni through the Michelob Ultra Courtside virtual fan experience, student artwork, in-arena activations, merchandise and partnerships. The game court for NBA All-Star 2021 will represent both the academic significance as well as the pride and school spirit of HBCUs and their students while three hundred frontline workers and HBCU students will be invited to virtually attend NBA All-Star 2021.

FOX Sports unveiled its cast of competitors calling 2021 NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race telecasts. For Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway at 4:30p on FS1, Joey Logano and Kurt Busch have the call alongside play-by-play announcer Adam Alexander, with pit reporting by Jamie Little and Regan Smith. Austin Dillon calls Friday’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Las Vegas with Vince Welch and Michael Waltrip. In all, FOX Sports features well more than a dozen NASCAR Cup Series drivers, former drivers or crew chiefs throughout the 2021 Xfinity and Camping World Truck Series seasons, with Tony Stewart, Drew Blickensderfer, Tyler Reddick and Daniel Suarez making their first analyst appearance.

ABC will broadcast its first-ever German Bundesliga match, pitting FC Bayern München vs. Borussia Dortmund on Saturday at noon as part of ESPN’s English and Spanish-language coverage of German soccer’s latest “Der Klassiker” rivalry game. In addition to ABC, the Bayern-Dortmund match from Allianz Arena in Munich will stream live on ESPN+ and will air live on ESPN Deportes.

Italian National Team star Alessandro Del Piero is joining ESPN as a soccer analyst. Del Piero will appear on ESPN FC, and will make his debut on Saturday, at 8p, providing postgame analysis on Juventus vs. Lazio match (2:45 p.m.) and other Serie A matchups of the day.

The Professional Fighters League announced that its 2021 Regular Season will be held in a state-of-the-art bubble environment at Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City. Athletes will be reporting to the bubble 17 days prior to their scheduled fights, allowing for initial quarantine and additional measures to ensure full participation. The PFL season kicks off on April 23.

Peacock will serve as the new streaming home of the Premier Lacrosse League for the upcoming 2021 season. Coverage features live and commercial-free streaming coverage of every game this season, including 23 games that will stream exclusively on Peacock Premium. Coverage on Peacock effectively replaces last season’s “Premier Lacrosse League Pass” on NBC Sports Gold.

NBC Sports Boston, through a partnership with Strat-O-Matic, is looking to recreate and simulate great moments, games and seasons with a twist, during its “What If Wednesdays” program. The program will air every Wednesday as part of the NBC Sports Boston’s primetime lineup. “The possibilities are endless with what we can simulate working with NBC Sports Boston,” said Adam Richman, Strat-O-Matic President. “The city’s rich tradition of sports and lively banter discussing their favorite teams and the wide breadth of coverage on the network makes it an ideal partnership.”

Major League Baseball announced the inaugural “Lou Gehrig Day,” which will be celebrated throughout the League during the 2021 Championship Season on June 2. Henceforth on this date, Gehrig will join fellow Baseball Legends Jackie Robinson and Roberto Clemente as the only players whose legacies are celebrated annually with dedicated, league-wide days. The focus of Lou Gehrig Day will be on three pillars: (1) remembering the legacy of Gehrig and all those lost to the disease that bears his name; (2) raising awareness and funds for research of ALS; and (3) celebrating the groups and individuals who have led the pursuit for cures.

Pro WTA player and U.S. Open Champion Sloane Stephens’ foundation is teaming with SAP to create “greater opportunity for all through a shared vision: believing that tennis and sport have the power to change lives, and that all kids deserve access to quality education and are capable of achieving incredible things when given the opportunity.” The Sloane Stephens Foundation will get support from SAP via assistance with the formalization of a high-performance tennis program in South Florida and providing crucial program support to the existing Love, Love Compton program

Verizon is tapping the services of a slew of NBA stars to promote Verizon Frontline, the advanced network and technology built for first responders. Athletes from the Jazz, hawks, Nets, Nuggets, Grizzlies, Pelicans, 76ers, Suns and Wizards signed on to support a series of activities to honor first responder organizations and the work they do every day. On March 23 and April 8, 2021, Verizon Frontline will host gaming livestream events on Twitch, where first responders and some of their favorite pro basketball players will participate.

NBA All-Star Weekend sees Foot Locker looking to recreate the energy of the game at home by hosting #FLHomeGame. On Sunday, fans can bring their sneaker and basketball game to Twitter to score exclusive products, experiences and content. DraftKings locked in a long-term deal with UFC to become the promotion’s first-ever “Official Sportsbook and Daily Fantasy Partner” in the United States and Canada. The sports technology and entertainment company will now be able to offer in-game promotions, activations, in-broadcast odds integrations and UFC branding across its daily fantasy and betting products and will possess rights to use official UFC marks and logos. On a weekly basis, DraftKings will also provide fans with free-to-play UFC games as well as enhanced prop bets and other innovative sportsbook opportunities.

Sportradar acquired Fresh Eight Ltd, the operator of a personalized messaging platform in the global betting and gaming market-place, through Sportradar Management Ltd. Through the acquisition, Sportradar will look to strengthen its digital marketing services platform with a DCO personalization technology in both display and paid social, enabling sportsbook operators to fully optimize their media investments.

WHOOP and CrossFit announced a multiyear partnership naming WHOOP the Official Wearable of CrossFit. The partnership will help CrossFit athletes at all levels benefit from WHOOP data around training, sleep, and recovery. CrossFit also plans to share data from the world’s fittest athletes via integrations into its broadcast programming and other digital and on-site channels.

fuboTV secured market access agreements for its forthcoming fubo Sportsbook in Indiana and New Jersey through Caesars Entertainment Inc. The agreements will bring fubo Sportsbook to a minimum of three states at launch following fuboTV’s previously announced market access agreement in Iowa through Casino Queen. fubo Sportsbook is expected to launch in the fourth quarter of this year, subject to obtaining requisite regulatory approvals in each jurisdiction.

Fintech blockchain company Chiliz announced plans to open a New York office and invest $50 million into the country’s sports industry to launch Fan Tokens with NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL and MLS franchises. Fan Tokens are branded digital assets that provide fans with access to voting rights, VIP rewards, exclusive promotions, augmented reality enabled features and ‘superfan’ recognition on the fan engagement platform Socios.com. A total of 23 major sporting organisations have partnered with Chiliz to launch Fan Tokens, including FC Barcelona, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan.


Evil Geniuses is tapping Bud Light as its newest partner and as the official beer of the team. Former execs from the likes of Riot Games, Blizzard, Valve, and Bungie teamed up and raised $37.5 million to launch a new game studio, titled Theorycraft Games. Led by NetEase, Inc., and including investments from NEA, BITKRAFT Ventures, Griffin Gaming Partners, SISU Game Ventures, and a small group of strategic angel investors, the Series A investment will be used to recruit diverse and driven talent to the Theorycraft team to develop a community-driven, PvP game available across multiple platforms.
