On the first day of the Sundance Film Festival yesterday, Vimeo announced the Vimeo On Demand Publisher Network. The platform allows partners to sell premium, ad-free content on their sites from Vimeo’s VOD catalog, within articles or from their own VOD storefront. Launch partners include The Atlantic, CBS Interactive Media Group’s TVGuide.com, TV.com and Metacritic; and TEN: The Enthusiast Network. “Integrating Vimeo On Demand onto our site provides us with an opportunity to explore new distribution and monetization models for videoa medium we’re investing in heavily as we build both content and audience,” The Atlantic Digital Vice President and General Manager Kimberly Lau said.
Hulu greenlit a new half-hour comedy series from Lionsgate and RocketJump that will go behind-the-scenes of the latest YouTube short from Video Game High School creator Freddie Wong. The eight episodes will be released exclusively on Hulu on a weekly basis, with no premiere date set yet. RocketJump boasts seven million subscribers, and more than a billion video views.
To prepare for the other (and cuter) Big Game – Puppy Bowl XI – Animal Planet rolled out the first of a six-part Puppy Bowl Pregame Show online this week. Sports correspondents will analyze and provide commentary on the big game as a companion to the second-annual Puppy Bowl Fantasy Game. Additionally, the puppies featured in Animal Planet L!VE’s Puppy Cam will predict the winner of the Puppy Bowl XI today (Friday) on AnimalPlanet.com. On game day (Feb. 1 at 2p ET), fantasy league players can keep track of their team’s stats online, and share photos of themselves and their pets via Instagram with #PuppBowl for a chance to get on TV.
It’s a wonderfully woofy Friday: Evolve Media acquired Dogtime Media, the pet publishing group with 1.6 million monthly users. Dogtime Media owns both Dogtime.com and Cattime.com, and will reside under the TotallyHer Media division.
VH1 will expand its VH1 Storytellers show with a new live stream component beginning with the episode spotlighting Ed Sheeran on Jan. 24 at 7p ET. Online fans can watch the first 60 minutes of Sheeran’s performance live at Storytellers.VH1.com, and stream the continuation of the show directly after at 8p ET.
Aasif Mandvi (The Daily Show) will star in the new web series Halal In The Family, along with Sakina Jaffrey (House of Cards) and special guests Samantha Bee, Triq “Black Thought” Trotter and Jordan Klepper. The four-episode show uses humor to discuss myths about Muslims. It is currently in production through a crowd-funding campaign. “Working on The Daily Show, I saw firsthand the depth of the challenges facing American Muslims,” Mandvi said. “I also saw how effective satire could be to open people up to thinking differently about this issue, while providing a balm to those suffering anti-Muslim bias.”

Select Management Group talent company introduced the SelectNext entertainment arm to develop original projects and business ventures. The firm reps digital-native talent such as GiGi Gorgeous (2.9 million followers), MyLifeAsEva (2.7 million followers) and Tess Christine (1.4 million followers). In addition, Select confirmed new campaign deals with TooFaced Cosmetics, Vevo and Proactiv+. Adam Wescott will oversee the new venture; he held senior roles at Mind Chatter Media and Penske Media.
Seventeen percent of U.S. broadband households are likely to subscribe to the upcoming OTT video service from HBO, according to a new survey by Parks Associates, and among those subscribers, 91 percent are pay-TV subscribers who would cancel their current pay-TV service after signing with HBO’s OTT offering. HBO chairman and CEO Richard Pepler has said the plan won’t gobble up existing pay-TV customers, but target broadband-only consumers.
MOBILE GAMING + APPS
British TV streaming service Acorn TV is now available on Samsung Smart TV devices and Blu-ray players. Acorn’s programming can also be viewed on Acorn.TV, on its Apple app and on its Roku channel.
Cartoon Network Games and Pixel Press launched the Adventure Time Game Wizard! app yesterday. Available on Google Play, Amazon and in the App Store, users will have the ability to draw their own video game with the Adventure Time show characters.
Nickelodeon and Paramount Pictures released mobile game SpongeBob: Sponge on the Run, based on the upcoming film The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, debuting Feb. 6. The app is a runner mobile game for iOS, Android and coming soon Amazon app stores.
ADVERTISING + AD PLATFORMS
Civolution rolled out programmatic Super Bowl advertising support on its Teletrax platform. Advertisers will be able to place digital and relevant advertisements in real-time across social, mobile and web platforms during major game plays.
FourthWall Media signed an agreement with OpenVault to license set-top box data from FW’s MassiveData division. The data will be integrated with OV’s cable modem data for reports on video and data network in order to benefit multichannel video programming distributors.
YP (formerly YellowPages.com) announced the Cross Device Retargeting platform for advertisers to access its 80 million monthly users across multiple devices. “We now have the ability to reach consumers at critical moments in the purchase process, no matter the device they’re using,” YP Chief Revenue Officer David Lebow said.

Refinery29 hired Amy Emmerich as Head of Video. She was most recently Senior Vice President of Programming for Scripps Networks Interactive’s digital lifestyle network Ulive.
Charlotte Koh joined Whipclip as Senior Vice President, Content & Partnerships. Prior to Whipclip, she was Head of Originals at Hulu.
Turner Classic Movies (TCM) named Jennifer Dorian as General Manager, and promoted Genevieve McGillicuddy to Vice President of Brand Activation and Partnerships. Dorian was most recently Chief Strategy Officer for Turner Entertainment Networks. McGillicuddy was Senior Director of Brand Activation and Partnerships for TCM.

Netflix released the first trailer for Tina Fey’s new series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt yesterday. The two-minute trailer starts off with the SWAT team releasing Kimmy (played by The Office’s Ellie Kemper) from her apocalypse shelter and quickly swivels to her new life in New York City, after 15 years underground.
