A 1960s retro-themed promotion spotlights NBC’s upcoming new series The Playboy Club in the iconic Playboy magazine.  For the October issue, Playboy magazine is sporting The Playboy Club star Laura Benanti on the cover along with a pictorial and interview of her inside.  Also inside, the issue will feature photos of 1960s-era Playboy Club bunnies at many of the clubs across the US.  And, staying with the 1960s theme, the October Playboy magazine issue will be priced at 60 cents, the original price the magazine sold for in 1961.  The Playboy Club bows next Monday at 10p on NBC.

FOX is keeping Jennifer Lopez close at hand by granting a script commitment with penalty for a family dramedy project from her and showrunner Silvio Horta.  Sony Pictures Television is producing the potential series about a Latino family with a batch of sisters who lead interconnected love lives.  Horta will write and be one of the executive producers along with Lopez and her Nuyorican Productions’ producing partner Simon Fields.

A new fashion-themed show heads to Lifetime as the network approved a ten-episode unscripted competition series, 24 Hour Catwalk.  TV personality Alexa Chung hosts the one-hour show where four talented designers will be given the opportunity to compete and create their own collection in only one day.  After a first cut challenge and elimination, two will remain and each will be challenged with creating a themed collection for their own runway show.  The show’s judges include designer Cynthia Rowley, New York Times author/fashion editor Derek Blasberg and publicist James LaForce.  24 Hour Catwalk is produced by Jane Street Entertainment.

Two new half-hour comedy pilot projects are in the pipe line at USA Network:

  • Untitled Douglas McGrath Project (aka On We Go) is a single-camera comedy about an unlucky actor who has to put his Broadway dreams on hold when he returns to his Texas childhood home to care for his ailing father.  Nathan Lane is on board as executive producer and is presently in negotiations to star.  Douglas McGrath will write and also serve as executive producer for the pilot produced by Universal Cable Productions.
  • Paging Dr. Freed centers on two brothers who take over their father’s medical practice following his sudden death.  Michael Feldman will pen the script and be executive producer while Katy McCaffrey and Brad Johnson will produce.  Fox 21 is producing.

Michael J. Fox
is reprising his role on CBS’ The Good Wife during the new season in multiple episodes, reports TVLine.  Fox plays Alicia’s nemesis Louis Canning who in the last season offered her a full partnership in his new law firm though she declined the offer.  The Good Wife premieres September 25 at 9p on CBS.
