Disney Junior channel premieres two new parent-aimed short-form series, Capture Your Story with Me Ra Koh and DADS, which will air as part of its nightly Disney Junior Night Light (9p-4a) block. Capture Your Story with Me Ra Koh, starring kid/family photographer Ma Ra Koh offering easy tips and tricks for taking good photos, debuts Saturday, December 1 at 9:25p. Focused on what life is like for stay-at-home dads, DADS is set to premiere on Sunday, December 16 at 9:25p. Both series will also be available on the Babble YouTube Channel and www.disneyjunior.com/nightlight. This December, the channel will also debut new episodes of the short-form cooking series That’s Fresh and classic storytelling series DJ Tales. Disney Interactive Family produces all of the content on the Disney Junior Night Light programming block and the block is sponsored by Babble, Disney’s parenting blog platform.

LICENSING

In Spain, Entertainment One‘s (eOne) Madrid-based licensing agent for Peppa Pig, El Ocho Licencias y Promociones, has completed a range of new licensing deals for the preschool property. eOne is currently translating the official Peppa Pig website for the Spanish market for launch later this month. Peppa Pig can be seen in Spain on RTVE’s kid-targeted block Clan TV, and was recently acquired by cabler Disney Junior there. Some key licensing deals in Spain include:

– Master toy partner Bandai launches a line of Peppa playsets and figures, which are based on the Character Options range, launched this fall.
– Toy partner Claudio Reig has also just launched a line of Peppa branded electronic instruments (e.g. keyboards, guitars and microphones).
– Licensees in the region Simba, Educa Borras, CEFA and Fournier are production products including puzzles, educational games, playing cards, puppets, construction sets and ride-ons.
– Marketing promotions are set for this fall with retailers in Spain such as Toys “R” Us, El Corte Ingles and FNAC.

MORE KIDS STUFF

Imira Entertainment, a Spain-based youth-centric production and distribution company, completes a number of program sales in Asia ahead of next month’s Asia Television Forum: Sandra, The Fairytale Detective (52×13) has been acquired for free TV by Media Corp TV12 (Singapore) and by CH-9 Media (Malaysia); In Vietnam, Hanoi TV/Ho Chi Minh TV picks up the free TV rights to Lola & Virginia (52×12) and Sandra, The Fairytale Detective via a deal with local distributor Thaole Entertainment; Zee Learn TV Channel takes free and pay TV rights to Vitaminix (104×2) for Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka; Good TV picks up cable and satellite rights to Saari (39×3) for Taiwan and the Philippines. These new Imira deals come on the heels of other Asian deals for its new animated series Lucky Fred, which has been acquired for pay TV by Tooniverse (South Korea) and free TV by RTM (Malaysia). These two deals join additional Asian broadcasters Nickelodeon Asia and South Korea and Disney India that have signed on for the series.

Al Jazeera Children’s Channel furthers its relationship with BBC Worldwide for a number of shows to be dubbed into classical Arabic and broadcast on JCCTV and preschool channel Baraem TV in early 2013. Programming featured under the new agreement includes: original wildlife documentaries such as Deadly 60 and Deadly 360; the natural history kid’s series Andy’s Wild Adventures; Leonardo (about the adventures of young Leonardo Da Vinci); and the teen spy comedy MI High; the animated series Me and My Monsters; the mixed puppet/live-action preschool series In The Night Garden; and Darrall Macqueen’s preschool series Baby Jake.

Nickelodeon will re-imagine Nick.com for Windows 8, tailoring it to the platform’s gesture-based interface. Providing a hub for all things Nickelodeon and available for free download in the Windows Store, the app allows kids to play 1500+ games, view photos and watch videos featuring their favorite series including iCarly, Victorious, Big Time Rush, The Legend of Korra, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, SpongeBob SquarePants, and more. Nick.com is the top kids entertainment website, per comScore Media Metrix’s comScore US data – average monthly unique visitors for July 2012  September 2012.

Aardman Digital, Aardman Animation’s digital arm, launches its newly created mobile browser game, Something Special: The Tumble Tapp Snap, for touch screen devices and based on CBeebies‘ (UK) series Something Special. The Something Special series is designed to focus on the world of younger kids, specifically aimed at those kids with learning differences and communication difficulties. Tumble Tap Snap is a matching game for touch screen mobile devices. Additionally, a simple flash version of the Tumble Tapp Snap game has also been produced for the CBeebies desktop site (www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/something-special/games/tumble-tapp-game/).

Nickelodeon releases SpongeBob SquarePants Don’t Be a Jerk It’s Christmas!, a digital e-book, available now, and limited-edition hard cover print edition available exclusively on Nickshop.com (www.nickshop.com) this week on iTunes, Nook and Kindle. This new holiday-themed book is set to the lyrics of the song, Don’t Be A Jerk – It’s Christmas, which was co-written by Tom Kenny (voice of SpongeBob) and Andy Paley (Blondie, Brian Wilson, The Ramones). Based on the new half-hour stop-motion It’s A SpongeBob Christmas! special airing on Nickelodeon, December 6 at 8p, the new e-book and book features illustrations by Heather Martinez.

Anchor Bay Entertainment is set to release the new DVD, Baby Geniuses and the Mystery of the Crown Jewels, the third title in the Baby Geniuses movie series, on Tuesday, February 5, 2013. The new DVD features featuring Jon Voight (National Treasures: Book of Secrets, Transformers, Mission: Impossible) as a chameleon-like taxi driver. The family movie follows the international adventures of a band of baby investigators, the Baby Squad.

Budge Studios and American Greetings Properties (AGP) release of the free Strawberry Shortcake Card Maker Dress Up app for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The new app invites kids to dress up Strawberry Shortcake, her Berry Bitty friends as well as upload a photo to dress up in full outfits, accessories, animated stickers, borders and backgrounds. Creations can be saved and turned into a digital greeting card to send to friends/family. Players can stop by the dress shop to find additional packs for each character with lots of new outfits and accessories. For the holiday, Budge Studios has also included a Christmas pack for holiday dress up. Users can also unlock hairstyles, frames and backgrounds. Strawberry Shortcake Card Maker Dress Up is a universal app available for free with in-app purchases.

LazyTown Entertainment launches its first portal app for iOS devices, available from Startal, a developer of mobile media software, which will allow kids/parents to keep up all things LazyTown and encourages kids to make healthy lifestyle choices. The app features free and pay content  including episodes of the TV series, wallpaper packs, Facebook and YouTube channel access, and upcoming products such as music videos, online games, ringtones and more.
