While the local Salt Lake City NBC affiliate chose not to air the new NBC series Playboy Club, KMYU/Salt Lake City has picked up the series, reports THR.  KSL chose not to air the show as it didn’t follow its  credo, and NBC acknowledges they are free to make those decisions on behalf of their market.

Traveling to the singles scene in Dallas, Bravo introduces its new reality series, Most Eligible Dallas beginning August 15 at 10p.  The series showcases a cadre of elite Texan singles from southern belles and beauty queens to professional football players who revel in drama while looking for true love.  Most Eligible Dallas is produced by Pink Sneakers for Bravo.

Adding to its 2012 lineup early, Comedy Central approved a pair of new sketch-comedy series:

  • The Nick Show Kroll features characters and sketches created by comedian Nick Kroll.  Kroll is writer and executive producer on the series along with John Levenstein and Jonathan Krisel, with John Daly on board as supervising producer.
  • An untitled series headlined by Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele described as a two-man sketch series where Key and Peele banter about various subjects in between filmed shorts and comedy skits.  Key, Peele, Ian Roberts and Jay Martel serve as executive producers.

News of these two series pick-ups comes soon after Comedy Central canceled the short-lived Sports Show With Norm Macdonald and Onion SportsDome.

Sunday’s season four bow of True Blood on HBO at 9p pulled in 5.4 million total viewers which equaled the previous high level mark for the series.  The encore airing at 11p brought in a further 1.0 million total viewers for a combined 6.4 million total viewers for the night.

Sony’s comedy Bad Teacher finished second in last weekend’s box office behind Disney Pixar’s Cars 2 and, as of yesterday, FX picked up the commercial television premiere rights to the film.  The network added the Cameron Diaz, Justin Timberlake and Jason Segel helmed film which grossed $31 million in its opening weekend to its growing list of acquired films including Green Lantern and Super 8 among others.

Tom Sizemore, known for his film roles in Saving Private Ryan, Red and Black Hawk Down cast in season two of CBS’ Hawaii Five-O in a multi-episode run.  Sizemore’s character is a former Detroit homicide detective who becomes the head of Internal Affairs with the Hawaiian police department.

Casting Call: A major TV network is casting for a new reality television show, Bring Your Old Boyfriend, featuring people and their ex partners.  The show will delve into ex-couple’s and their unresolved issues.  Candidates must be between the ages of 18-30.  Send an email with your name, age, recent photo and contact information to [email protected] and also include a brief summary about you and your ex.
